Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

Three straight wins, I like. Havent looked good in any of them though. Stretches we have looked good (4th quarter against Boston). Continue to find the groove while winning and start striding around playoff time.

You don't want to peak to early. Let's get Z back, find our lineup's and what this offense's comfort zone with Jamison is going to be. Allow some time to gel and start hitting your stride about 2-3 weeks before playoff time.

This team can be nasty if its all in place.

The Cavs have a roster that can play to the weaknesses of any team they play. It's just going to be up to Mike Brown to optimize his rotations depending on who they are playing. Against the Celtics they don't really need Shaq or Z since the Celtics have trouble with the athleticism of the Cavs many 4's. The Raptors and Hawk are like the Celtics, but more athletic so the Cavs would be better off with Shaq seeing some minutes to pound the paint and draw fouls. Against the Magic and Lakers they will need Shaq and Z at full strength to match up with all the bigs. Luckily they don't play anyone over the next month that is a bad matchup if Shaq is out for a while. Shaq needs to take as much time as it takes to get to 100%.

Source: Agent says Ilgauskas to Cavs
By Marc Stein
ESPN.com

Denver Nuggets coach George Karl told local reporters Sunday that he has not abandoned hope of convincing Zydrunas Ilgauskas to come to Denver.

But another prominent team on the list of Ilgauskas suitors has conceded that the veteran center's widely anticipated return to the Cleveland Cavaliers is all but official.

Dallas Mavericks representatives declined formal comment Sunday, but one source briefed on the discussions told ESPN.com that Ilgauskas' agent, Herb Rudoy, has informed the Mavericks that Ilgauskas intends to re-sign with the Cavaliers as soon as he's eligible.

Rudoy, though, has repeatedly insisted that Ilgauskas won't make a firm decision until next week.

Shaq to have thumb examined Sunday
Associated Press

INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Cleveland Cavaliers center Shaquille O'Neal will have his injured right thumb examined Sunday by Dr. Thomas Graham at the National Hand Center in Baltimore.

An MRI Saturday confirmed the injury was a significant sprain. O'Neal, who was hurt during a win at Boston on Thursday, will miss Monday's game against New York.

The team has not provided any timeline for his return.

Shaq's having surgery tomorrow on his thumb. Out for the rest of the regular season.

I was hoping that it wouldn't be that long, but the Cavs really don't need him except for the Magic and Lakers. He should be able to stay in shape so best case he can come back right around the beginning of the playoffs and not have much rust to knock off. At least this will give JJ and Powe plenty of minutes for the next 22+ days.

I'd rather have Z and Shaq on the roster than not, but I'm kind of excited to watch this team play with a bunch of athletic PF types for a while. Did they ever roll out the lineup below against Toronto that I saw against Boston?

PG West or Mo
SG Lebron
SF Jamison
PF Hickson
C Verajao
