Cavs 09-10 Season (official thread)

I'd rather have Z and Shaq on the roster than not, but I'm kind of excited to watch this team play with a bunch of athletic PF types for a while. Did they ever roll out the lineup below against Toronto that I saw against Boston?

PG West or Mo
SG Lebron
SF Jamison
PF Hickson
C Verajao

I'm not sure if they used that lineup on Friday. I know they went smaller with Lebron and Jamison at the 4 and 5 some. This team has enough big athletic guys that they should only have trouble when when they face a dominate inside player. Luckily there aren't many of those around anymore.
I was thinking sometime over the past couple weeks that this summer it would be good to get Jawad on a bulk up strength plan. He's big enough that they could add 20 lbs of muscle to him so he could play some 4, but still have an outside shot. That wouldn't be a bad idea for JJ either.

Cavs up 10 early, but they're getting sucked into the Knicks style of play with turnovers, quick shots and not getting back on defense consistently.

Without Shaq or Z I think this will be more of the Cavs style as well. Hopefully not this fast, but faster than with the bigs. I would like to see them try to go inside more, which would limit the fast breaks off of long rebounds. Mike Brown is really going to need to learn that Mo and Jamison need to be in the game when Lebron is on the bench. Jamison played all but the last minute of the first so I'm guessing he'll be sitting at least as long as Lebron in the second. Powe and Andy will need to man the middle.

It's amazing how bad the Knicks are. To make it worse they are willing to let every decent player they have walk in order to have enough money to sign 2 max deals. I get the feeling they are going to end up with a stats first guy like Amare and they'll overpay for a 2nd tier player. They don't even have a draft pick to look forward to this summer.

Ilgauskas destined for return to Cavs?

Associated Press

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Cavaliers are applying full-court pressure to Zydrunas Ilgauskas.

Ilgauskas

Several of the center's former Cleveland teammates visited him in New York on Tuesday, hoping to persuade him to re-sign with the Cavs and help them make a run at an NBA title. Ilgauskas, who has a place in SoHo, was traded last month to Washington in the deal for forward Antawn Jamison.

The Cavs play at New Jersey on Wednesday, and they reached out to the big man affectionately known as "Z."

"They told him they want him to come back," agent Herb Rudoy said.

"[Cavaliers general manager] Danny Ferry flew in the other day and met with him, too."

Ilgauskas recently bought out his contract with the Wizards, freeing him to re-sign with any team after 30 days.

The Cavs need him...
