Cavs 08-09 Season - Central Div Champs (official thread)

Chase Budinger's better and still on the board...

I read where someone compared Eyenga to Mikael Pietrus from Orlando... Not bad if he can be like that when he comes over here to play...

Post from a mod on a Lakers board:

Christian Eyenga - Freak athlete from Spain. Very raw skills. Makes you think of Dwyane Wade athletically.
I kind of think of this guy like a high upside high schooler taken high in the baseball draft, higher chance he won't pan out but bigger upside than many of the college players left.

Currently projected as a mid-second round pick, it’d be surprising to see Green go undrafted given the improvements he’s made over his four years at UNC, most notably this season. Even though he’s not a prototypical NBA athlete, his ability to defend and make shots could still look very attractive. Because of his outstanding basketball IQ and the experience he’s received at UNC, he may even begin to creep into first round discussions as the draft draws nearer, as winning teams drafting near the end of the first may be attracted to a player who’s already excelled as a two-way role player for a top college team in a top college conference, which should ease his transition to the league.

Well, I'm glad they picked someone who can dance before the game. That stuff is important to know, so thanks ESPN.

Also, why the hell are they listing him as a Forward - as if a 6'6" guy is going to be playing that position in the NBA.

I admit when I saw Heytvelt's name among the available players I was hoping it'd be him, but I can't really be upset with this pick.

With these two picks, what does this say about the Cavs chances of getting Villanueva?

the 1st round pick could make more sense now. perhaps they didn't see much difference between Sam Young & Danny Green and knew there was a very good chance that Green would be available in the 2nd. on top of that they know there is a good chance an experienced guy like Green will be able to make the roster and quite possibly the rotation. put this together and it seems logical to take a chance on a high upside 1st rounder who you can stache/develop overseas for a couple years.

love the Danny Green pick.....instantly better than Terrance Kinsey....

Hear' ya. Plus Kinsey got busted for DUI last night so who knows which direction he's going.

Green was as good as we could have hoped for at #46. He's proven he's a winner, and love the "D" that he can hopefully bring to the outside.

Peace.

what's funny is this:

if cleveland had drafted green at 30 and captain congo at 46, nobody would have really cared, and called it a good but safe draft. but, since the picks were flopped, everyone is pissed, even though the ultimate result saves the cavs about $750,000 this year, and as much as $1 million in cap space in 2010.

As a Tar Heel fan I'm very happy to see Danny Green get picked by my Cavs.

He's a great all around player that does everything right, plus he teabagged Greg Paulus. What else is necessary?
