Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

I just hope Ben and Boobie can get to 100% by the playoffs. We are going to need both of them in top form to make a good run. The depth on this time is great if everyone will play up to their ability.

I agree, with Big Ben and Andy we have great inside defense, and we also have scoring ability on offense from most positions now with LBJ, West, Sasha, Boobie, Z, Devin Brown, Joe Smith, and Andy has picked up his O, and don't forget Wally and DJ if we need a shooter...Hopefully Wally picks it up...

4-6 in the last 10.

Boobies return was ugly, he only scored 1 point, and went 0-1 from 3.

Things haven't looked good lately, but really what is killing us is LBJ is struggling to find the hoop...He hasn't hit 30 in any of the last 3 games...

Also we just can't get in a rhythm so to speak with the guys on the floor because we keep getting guys back from injury and Wallace can't stay healthy...

No reason to worry about Boobie in his first game back...Let him get his leagues back by playoff time and he will be fine...

We just need to really make sure that we hang onto the 4 spot...

Looks like Mike Brown likes the lineup better without Pavs in it. I don't know if he was banged up again, but he didn't play at all again with Devin Brown starting. Boobie tweeked his ankle again in the 3rd and didn't return. Hopefully this isn't a setback. It sounds like Wallace is ok to play, but Brown wants to rest him as much as possible so he is good for the playoffs. Good win tonight against one of the hottest teams in the East. The Cavs really need to pick it up and hold onto the 4th spot in the playoffs.

Sasha had ice on his foot... I'm assuming he was going to play and then he had some discomfort in his foot.

and that was the downside to the trade...we definately sacrificed offense for defense.

If LeBron isn't on we don't have a chance offensively. Gooden helped much more offensively than given credit for.

I'd still do the trade, but until Sasha and Boobie get 100% and have some sort of rhythm this team is going to struggle.

The best thing about tonight was Delonte West. He was aggressive, but he picked his spots to be aggressive and was not out of control. He also shot the ball very well and defended well. His block on Andre Miller on his breakaway layup was a great play. This is by far the best game Delonte has played in a Cavs uniform, and it would be huge if he could continue to play around the level he did tonight.

If West can play like he did tonight the offense will be fine. They really need to find some consistent scoring from the 2 without sacrificing defense.

the most exciting thing for me right now is the fact that the NBA draft is going to be so Guard heavy.

LeBron is going to get a legit PG for next year and one that typically would have gone top 10. That's how loaded this class is (crossing my fingers Rose, Lawson, Mayo all come out)

Man just when we were close to having everyone back and ready to go we have 3 more setbacks with Boobie going down, Sasha not able to play and Wallace battling back problems...

Boobie had the shot back tonight as well in the time he got...

Really like what West did tonight...If he can continue to play like that from the point and we can get Boobie and Sasha back healthy with the way that Devin Brown is playing, I think we are going to be a tough out...

The East has gotten a little deeper as the season has went on tho...

I think there are a legit 8 teams now that will be in the playoffs...Not anywhere near the West, but with the emergence of the young Sixers playing well, and the Hawks with Joe Johnson, Mike Bibby, Marvin Williams, and Al Horford that is a pretty solid starting 5...but young...

Should make for an interesting playoffs...

We could see either Washington, Toronto, or Philly...

The Wizards will only have a 1 game lead after tonight and finish with a very tough schedule having Utah, Detroit, Boston, Philly and Orlando on it

The only game that Toronto plays vs a team ranked ahead of them is @ Detroit...and have one game against ATL as the only other playoff team on the schedule...

The Sixers have Detroit, Washington, Cleveland, and twice against ATL...

With the way the schedules lineup it looks like we will be seeing Toronto or Philly in the first round unless the Wizards play out of their minds or for some reason Philly or Toronto can't beat teams they are better than...

Cavs take it to last second LeBron hits winning shot to end three-game losing streak
By Brian Windhorst

CLEVELAND: As Andre Iguodala's shot rotated toward the hoop with the red lights on around the backboard, the sound of the final horn was clearly audible despite more than 20,000 being on their feet in Quicken Loans Arena.
Those Cavaliers fans knew how their team's karma has gone this season. From an endless injury parade to a flurry of buzzer-beaters, freak happenstance has plagued the Cavs for these long months. So all seemed to prepare for the worst.
The ball hit the side of the iron and hung on the rim for a moment, only to slide off the back to give the Cavs a hard-fought 91-88 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday. Had it gone in, it would've been the sixth time the Cavs (41-33) have lost or had a game go into overtime on a last-second shot.

Cavaliers' hot spot? Key West

Delonte leads way in win over Sixers
Monday, March 31, 2008Branson Wright
Plain Dealer Reporter
Another key option for the Cavaliers may have emerged Sunday night, and Dwayne Jones was not surprised when the candidate finally stepped forward.
"For the first time since being here, he didn't allow his mistakes to dictate how he was going to play," said Jones, a forward. "He was trying to fit into the system instead of allowing the system to fit in with him. If he continues to play like he did, he'll be the second or third option we've been looking for."
Point guard Delonte West made big defensive plays and nailed two crucial 3-pointers down the stretch to help assure a 91-88 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers at The Q.

The victory snapped the Cavs' three-game losing streak, and they have won 10 of their past 11 games at home.
This victory was desperately needed after Saturday's dreary loss in Detroit. That also was a poorly played game by LeBron James, who had more turnovers (five) than field goals made (4-of-17). In typical James fashion, he bounced back with 26 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, including the game-winning layup.
