Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

However long he's out, it's gonna hurt. Gooden seems like a non-factor in three out of every four games and he is one of the worst defenders in the East whenever I see him play. He has the basketball IQ of Richard Simmons. He may have overtaken Hughes as my most loathed player on this team as at least Hughes has been playing a little better of late. Gooden has been useless lately.

I agree it is probably at worst a 2 month problem, but it could be ligaments too. In actuality, an ankle break would be better than ligament damage, which would probbaly sideline him until next season.

I think it's a little premature, but Anderson needs to be healthy for this team to have a legit title run.

If I had to guess Andy will miss a week or two. Now either Marshall will have to come back or they will need Simmons to start seeing some minutes for a little while. Gooden was playing better before Andy came back so hopefully he will pick it up again.

LBJ took Kobe out of the game...Down the stretch when we were down 9 and then we made a nice run, and Kobe was trying to match LBJ, LBJ shut him down and took him out of the game, so much that Phil decided to put Kobe on the bench due to the fact that he was trying to force so much and it let us back in the game...

Now we are hating on Drew Gooden...I know he doesn't score every night, but he knocks his shots down when they are given to him, and he does a good job of rebounding...You guys want an all star at every position just be happy with what we have and root for them...

I understand that Hughes and Gooden struggle at times and have no problems talking about trading them and maybe finding them a better situation and brining guys into to better our team and our salary cap situation, but no reason to hate on these guys all the time...Remember a couple of years ago when Cavs fans hated on DJ all season, and said he should never play but then he hit one of the biggest shots of the year against Washington in the playoffs...

I don't understand Cleveland fans and I never will, I understand it sucks to lose, but there is no reason to hate on the players, they do the best they can do, if you could do any better then get out there and do it...Now as for the coach that runs guys out there that probably wouldnt play on 30 teams in the league, and has no offensive mind, now that is a different thing...

no, we don't want all-stars at every position. I mean, we do, but we know it isn't plausible. Is it to hard to ask that Drew slides over from the weak-side and attemptes to challenge a Lamar Odom lay-up? Is it to hard for Drew to contest an open lay-up down the middle of the paint when he has no back-side responsibilities? Nobody is asking for Drew to become Karl Malone. It would be nice, but Larry Nance isn't walking through the door.

How many guys in the NBA do this???? You do that and the chances of getting dunked on go up...

And that's why the NBA sucks. Too many ego's and laZy play.

The best teams in the league do though. Detroit NEVER gives up an easy lay-up. Jason Maxiell and Rasheed Wallace will take a face full of croth if it means giving up a dunk. San Antonio is the same way.

Not only is it contesting easy shots that makes these teams championship contenders every year, but they take good shots too. Their team concepts include taking good shots, not poor shooters going 2-9, 3-13 every game. They utilize their star players and win and die with them.

The Cavs would significantly improve with a legit PG, less a poor defensive, too many shot taking, PF.

That's really good news. It's no coincidence the teams play has improved drastically since Andy came back.

In fairness to Gooden, it never should have came to that on that play. Larry Hughes had to do a better job of preventing Kobe from penetrating. The Cavs bigs aren't good help defenders, which is why we switch and over cover screens to prevent penetration. You prevent the initial penetration and there is no need for Gooden or Z to provide help defense on dribble penetration.

Drew needed to make a better play on that, but it never would have come to that had Hughes not been playing matador defense.

Drew plays much better when he gets a lot of minutes. I wouldn't be surprised if he averaged 15-17 and 10 boards while Andy is out. He'll be wanting to prove himself during this stretch.
