Cavs 07-08 Season Thread

Dispatch

Beno Udrih has been good at point guard for Sacramento, increasing the possibility that the Kings will trade Mike Bibby before the NBA's deadline. The Cleveland Cavaliers have had strong interest in Bibby for a couple of years. If there's a deal-killer here, it's that Sacramento is supposedly trying to include Kenny Thomas in any deal to get out from under the $17.5 million it owes him for the next two seasons. Bibby has one year left on his contract at $14.5 million.

if that's was sacramento wants to do, they have to take larry hughes in return.

if it takes hughes and gooden for thomas and bibby, you have to think hard about it.

it's tiring watching gooden sulk about his minutes getting taken by AV. perhaps if gooden wasn't such a functional retard on the court, he'd play more.

Tough loss by the Cavs tonight against the Suns. I can't believe that Lebron missed a pair of layups toward the end of the fourth quarter. One he just missed and the other rolled around the rim and did everything but go in. However, our strong showings in the third as of late were absent tonight as we gave up the 13 point lead we built in the first half. Tough loss, but no time to look back now, we have some tough opponents coming up on the schedule.

Edit: Two more things... Larry played a good game tonight... now only if we could get him to play with some more consistency offensively. Also Newble started? I guess Brown likes the other guys coming off the bench and doesn't want to upset that rotation. But my only question is why not let Shannon Brown start like he had earlier this season and see if he can finally be consistent?

Cavs fall to Suns in final seconds

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

CLEVELAND -- No team in the NBA has the Cavaliers' number quite like the Phoenix Suns.
So it was no surprise last night when Phoenix ended Cleveland's season-best five-game winning streak. Behind hot shooting and crafty play from point guard Steve Nash, the Suns beat the Cavaliers for the 15th time in 18 games, 110-108 in Quicken Loans Arena.
Suns forward Shawn Marion made the winning basket on a driving,
10-foot floater with 1.1 seconds remaining. It was his first field goal of the game.

Continued......

This can not be said enough. The fact that his contract was extended is one of the single most frustrating things I've had to deal with as a Cavs fan...and I've been a fan through thick and thin since the beginning of the Daugherty-Price era.

I'd also like to say that if Gooden's name comes up in any trades that can benefit this team, throw his ass in. He is so maddeningly inconsistent that losing him is no big deal IMO. With Andy, at least you know what you're getting out there. Give him Gooden's minutes and you could most likely expect reasonably close to a double-double most nights. Any team wanting Gooden should probably have his IQ checked first though, because I really think he may be retarded. I've never seen a player that can be so brilliant one night, then absolutely worthless the next on such a regular basis. He makes me want to put my fist through the wall.

Andy already gets the same or greater minutes than Gooden. You might be able to give him a few more, but his performance is going to go down if you wear him out by playing him more than 35 minutes a game. If they trade Gooden they would have to get a serviceable big man or they will have to rely on Simmons and/or Dwayne Jones to play at least 20-30 minutes a game.
It sounds like the Queens want to clear salary. so there is now way they will take Hughes since he has more years and money the Bibby. It would probaby take something like Gooden, Snow, Newble, and Shannon Brown for Bibby, Thomas, and Dahntay Jones.
