Rookie Gibson gives LeBron all the help he needs; Cavs reach Finals

CLEVELAND - Finally, the Finals.
Some 37 years of frustration and futility for the Cavaliers' franchise melted away in an exhilarating finish to a statement series on a delirious Saturday night.
The Cavs slew the nemesis Detroit Pistons with a stunning and spirited 98-82 Game 6 victory on an evening that validated one star and might have given birth to another. The next stop after the 4-2 series victory is San Antonio, where the Cavs will play the Spurs for the NBA championship starting with Game 1 at 9 p.m. on Thursday.
``I believe it was just our time,'' LeBron James said, clad in a championship hat and shirt. ``Something had to go right for Cleveland sports, something just had to go right.''
If James was the awe of this Eastern Conference finals, Daniel ``Boobie'' Gibson was the shock.
The Pistons, still smarting from James' 48-point performance in Game 5, were determined not to let the 22-year-old star beat them. With over-aggressive defense made up of half-court traps and zones, it worked but was not successful. That's because a 21-year-old rookie from Texas submarined the strategy with his own ``game of his life.''
