Cavs 06-07 season thread

Well, give the city of Detroit some credit...they did win the final game of the Tigers-Indians series tonight to avoid an 0-10 goose egg over the last ten pro sport games against Cleveland. :slappy:

the tigers and indians play again tomorrow. still a tigers win tormorrow only nets them a 2-5 record against the tribe.

Amazing game. The thing I love about this team, which is also different from most teams with star players, is that the "role" players aren't afraid to try and make plays. Andrew taking the ball down the court on the fast break, Drew driving to the hoop and hitting jump shots and Z and others doing what they need to do. It's the type of mentality you need to win. That ,and the fact that the Cavs have Lebron, is why I think they can beat the Spurs.

Will be the most excited I'll be to watch an NBA finals.

I gotta add that Rasheed Wallace is a coward. What a way to go out. He couldn't stick it out for hte rest of the game so he throws a tantrum like a little baby. It's hilarious. Lebron came down the lane, he wraps his arms around him yet he feels the need to question the call.

Going to the Finals...

I think that we have a great shot against the Spurs...

Parker and Duncan will be a tough match on the pick n' roll, but we have become such a great defensive team that we are going to be able to hold them down some...

If Boobie can continue to score the way he has, and if we can get some production from Z, Drew, Sasha, Larry we will be looking very good...

Also great way to see Sheed go out with class...

Also I think that we have all criticized Larry and Mike Brown, but they need some credit, Larryor playing with this injury and hitting some big shots in the past 2 games, and Brown for getting this team to play outstanding defense...

Awesome series! Gibson was fantastic! He will need to stay out of foul trouble against San Antonio and continue to hit those big shots. Who is going to guard Ginobili, Lebron? I can see Gibson on Parker with Hughes helping out. Z is going to have to find some defense in the next 4 days. What a run regardless of what happens next. I am finally getting a reason to watch the NBA again.

Fuck Michigan.

For the 4th time this year - let's get the re-cap:

Ohio State Football
Ohio State Basketball - Regular Season
Ohio State Basketball - Big 10 Tournament
Cleveland Cavaliers - NBA

We were at Little Bar on High Street, when after the game a spontaneous rendition of "We Don't Give a Damn..." burst out. It was great, just like a Saturday in November.

Man... that was great. The Spurs matchup will be interesting- we can go defensive against them or speed. What this series has shown is that the Cavs win if anyone can help LeBron out- whether it's Gooden in Game 3, Gibson in Game 4/6, or if LeBron just says "we ain't losing" in Game 5... they can beat anyone.

If LeBron has just one other player hot for each game in the Finals, then the Cavs have a real shot at this. Bring one home to Cleveland for me, boys!

Finally- it's a good thing that we're not playing Miami or the Magic, since the Florida Rule would somehow apply and screw us over again... such as 1997 World Series and this year's FB/BB championship games... (Miami doesn't count in '02).

I must admit that even as a non NBA fan I got a little caught up in the Lebron James Saga so I watched most of this series. I am surprised that the Cavs were able to pull this off because early in the series Lebron was not playing like a superstar does in a playoff. But he learned and got smarter and tougher. I was impressed by his ability in last nights game to let the game come to him, to play in concert with the defense of Detroit. So in the end he didn't score many points but he did what he had to do against the def. to let his team win.
The improvement of James AND the improvement of Gibson won the series.
I probably watch the Champ. series to see how James does but I still am not an NBA fan and won't watch next year until maybe the playoffs again.
I just do it to share the excitement you Cav fans have here on BP as sports fans. One of which I am.

James Gang rides high

Rookie Gibson gives LeBron all the help he needs; Cavs reach Finals

By Brian Windhorst

CLEVELAND - Finally, the Finals.
Some 37 years of frustration and futility for the Cavaliers' franchise melted away in an exhilarating finish to a statement series on a delirious Saturday night.
The Cavs slew the nemesis Detroit Pistons with a stunning and spirited 98-82 Game 6 victory on an evening that validated one star and might have given birth to another. The next stop after the 4-2 series victory is San Antonio, where the Cavs will play the Spurs for the NBA championship starting with Game 1 at 9 p.m. on Thursday.
``I believe it was just our time,'' LeBron James said, clad in a championship hat and shirt. ``Something had to go right for Cleveland sports, something just had to go right.''
If James was the awe of this Eastern Conference finals, Daniel ``Boobie'' Gibson was the shock.
The Pistons, still smarting from James' 48-point performance in Game 5, were determined not to let the 22-year-old star beat them. With over-aggressive defense made up of half-court traps and zones, it worked but was not successful. That's because a 21-year-old rookie from Texas submarined the strategy with his own ``game of his life.''
