Cam Newton (QB New England Patriots)

Wow.. .

http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/bcs-pass-for-auburn-booster-facing-285-years-29355

The Auburn booster, Milton McGregor, will stand trial on April 4 on charges that he attempted to buy the influence of state politicians. If convicted on all charges, McGregor faces 285 years in a federal penitentiary and $4.5 million in fines.

McGregor is currently out on $500,000 bail and today asked federal judge Terry Moorer for a 72-hour pass to Arizona to attend Auburn's BCS Championship Game against Oregon on January 10.

The Auburn booster's request was promptly granted...

some kids and families probably do think that far ahead.

especially in light of the USC thing.

didn't recruit wait till well after signing day to see what would happen to USC?
signed with them (when told nothing would happen), then bolted when the hammer dropped?

I think if the NCAA finds any dirt on Auburn, they may hit them even harder than they did USC.

Mainly because well the USC thing just happened. If Auburn is dumb enough to pull this [censored] that soon after, they deserve to get prison raped with splintery plungers [strike]sanctions[/strike].

I don't see how anyone can actually believe that sCam had no idea that his dad was shopping him around like a prized prostitute (the "defense" being used)

but even if sCam had now clue (which is doubtful IMO)

shouldn't Auburn and Miss State still be punished for the cash bidding war they had for him?

Apparently you can ask for money and not get punished, just don't get caught actually receiving and/or handing out the money and you're all good. The burden of proof is on the accuser, regardless if you've already admitted to actually asking for $.

The swift NCAA ruling in the Newton case makes me wonder how hard they really looked to find anything or if they even looked at all...

What cash bidding war? yeah, we might all THINK there was one, but there's no evidence of it. At least not yet. If there ever is evidence, then Aubie will go down hard.

Did you take them
Here or there?

I would not take them
here or there.

My understanding is that the FBI has all the "evidence"(wire taps, bank statements) right now and will hand it over when the larger issues(possible FDIC bank involved(bailout money)) are finalized as being fully investigated... it isn't over...

yeah, i don't think this investigation is over at all. I won't be surprised if Auburn gets busted eventually

FIFY

sCam will be long gone and out of the NCAA's reach by the time the evidence is turned over, but Auburn as a university will likely be toast if everything that I think has happened turns out to be at least partially true. They'll get roasted by more than the NCAA more than likely.
