Cam Newton (QB New England Patriots)

What's your point? Reggie Bush never has (to my knowledge) admitted anything. Now, maybe Cam hasn't done anything wrong. And on the other hand, maybe he's playing the tactic that USC tried--deny everything and hope that the NCAA never can dig up proof.

It just seems as that whole school is rotten and dysfunctional to its core. With USC, it was just an idiot AD and a couple of cheating coaches. With Auburn, the entire university seems like it's run by a bunch of jock-sniffing, Boss Hogg wanna-bes. I still think the regional accrediting agency is not done weighing in on the matter.

A. Troy admitted to accepting the 'handshake.' Cam has admitted to nothing.

He was declared ineligible, however, after the regular season was completed. And then reinstated for the SEC CCG so quickly that virtually nobody even knew he was ineligible until after he was reinstated.

things Cam has said publicly

  • If it was up to me, I would still be at Florida
  • I wanted to go to Mississippi St., but my dad chose Auburn
  • My heart told me Auburn was the right choice for me
  • I didn't know my daddy was pimping me out like a 2 dollar whore
chances are, at least 3 of them is a lie

I don't have a problem believing that Cam could be a con artist and I can believe the first three might have been said, but #4 sounds to me as if you're just writing for shits and grins. Did he say anything even close to this?

he probably worded it a little differently.

according to what is reported as fact in the NCAA report.
Cecil admittedly solicited money from Miss. St.
Cam says he knew nothing about it.

so he said it

Have to correct you on the last one.

I have been with a 2 dollar whore - and they are only fit to play the line.

Am I the only one that has found ESPN's programming to be a bit amusing today?

They had the 30 for 30 story of Marcus Dupree on earlier, among other things pretty much talking about how teams were throwing thousands of dollars at his feet to come play football for him and how he ended up at Oklahoma, (what a surprise) before his handlers got him to go pro

Then right after the Heisman ceremony they are doing the SMU 30 for 30. Haven't been watching today but wouldn't be surprised to see something about Reggie Bush..just group all these guys together in one day of cheater's programming

Watching IU v UK...

Even Dukie V knows that the sCam Newton ruling opens up all sorts of possibilites for people to be on the take and kids can claim "I didn't know."

We know EXACTLY why Slive won't touch this with a 30 foot pole.

Can't believe LSUFreek doesn't have a "Show me the money!" gif with Cuba as Cam's Pop's, Gene Chizik as Tom Cruise, and Cam as Cubs's kid. Or maybe he's saving it until the FBI is done with their thing.

I went into a grade school yesterday and saw a picture of Reggie Bush with a white upper lip in a "Got Milk" promotion. I couldn't help think of the irony of this "All American" cheater still benefitting from his wrong doing while the kids at his former school were left to pick up the pieces.

Now we have Cam and family seemingly on a parallel journey. Cam will graduate (or at least go pro) and may soon find his image with a white mustache posted in some grade school hall. But what comes next for the kids who follow?

Regardless of NCAA or FBI investigations, do any of you think that all this ends up quite badly for the SEC in general and for Auburn in particular? Will recruits and their families worry at all as to whether their chosen school will be ultimately found out to be major violators and suffer consequences similar to USC?

Forget about whether the NCAA takes any action or whether or not other revelations are made about this or that program. Will the mere perception of apparent corruption scare folks away from Auburn, Alabama, MSU, etc? Or am I kidding myself, thinking that kids and their families think that far ahead?

some kids and families probably do think that far ahead.

especially in light of the USC thing.

didn't recruit wait till well after signing day to see what would happen to USC?
signed with them (when told nothing would happen), then bolted when the hammer dropped?

I think if the NCAA finds any dirt on Auburn, they may hit them even harder than they did USC.

Mainly because well the USC thing just happened. If Auburn is dumb enough to pull this shit that soon after, they deserve to get prison raped with sanctions.
