Cam Newton (QB New England Patriots)

i don't venture to tigerdroppings very often, so don't know how credible that guy is.

but ho-lee shit!

if that post ain't true, he needs a job writing in hollywood

P.S. i hate Auburn with an unhealthy passion, but this ain't what i wanted for them. not even close. this is not good.

Cliffs Notes:

AU Board of Trustees is controlled by a bunch of good-old-boys, the most powerful of which ran a large bank that was seized by the FDIC and is now under FBI investigation for all sorts of misdeeds. Another BoT member/booster owns a casino/dog track in the state. Several AU BoT's/boosters were also on the board of the seized bank.

In the course of the FBI's investigation into improprieties at the bank, their wiretaps recorded several AU BoT members/boosters discussing pay-for-play schemes involving Newton and other members of the recent AU recruiting class, which was remarkably improved over the previous year's lackluster class. Schemes included slot machines rigged to pay out big bucks to AU players, laundering booster money through the casino and into player's hands, secret ATM cards from the bank in question, and funneling money from the university's fundraising arm into the hands of recruits and their families. AU recruiting coordinator Trooper Taylor also heard on wiretap discussing pay-for-play and how much money he needs to wrap up the recruiting class.

AU booster funnels $250k from a non-profit org. to Newton's uncle, who sends it to Cecil. Cecil's church is suddenly repaired. Cecil owns a small trucking company with just a couple drivers. After Cam signs, business picks up to the point where over a dozen drivers are needed.

AU knows they are SOL, but instead of sitting Newton for the rest of the year, they figure they'll try to win a MNC, SEC Champ., and Heisman Trophy and deal with the consequences later. AU's President wanted to sit Cam against UGA but was overruled by AD and boosters. AU was threatened with loss of accreditation (academic equiv. of the death penalty) earlier this decade, but was spared and given probation. The SACS (accrediting body) is not going to spare them this time. So not only is AU looking at a death penalty from the NCAA, they could also very likely become unaccredited as an academic instritution, meaning loss of all federal funds and obviously dismissal from the SEC.

Better than a soap opera.

Couple quick thoughts:

First off - REP THIS MAN. He's earned it.

Secondly. I've been drunk at VictoryLand Casino in Alabama before and lost money at their dog track. I PAID CAM!

Finally - Damn, who are we gonna pick up now to be our 12th league member :(
Somebody get FSU on hold.

this shit will drag on in the courts for years leading to a slap on the wrist BC style......

Don't think there's going to be slaps on the wrist. Going to be prison sentences...Lots of 'em.

And an entire University becoming, not a University...

Allegedly...

I doubt it. Cam Newton has current eligibility. This is gaining major traction in the news. I think that will cause the NCAA to move a little more expeditiously than in other cases. Auburn basically has the Sword of Damocles hanging over them right now. If this wasn't major, with far reaching implications, they'd probably chose to sit Newton to spare themselves more damage. As it is, they probably know they're about to get fucked 6 ways from Sunday and figure "well, it's all gonna burn down...might as well enjoy it while we can."

+ the FBI is involved and if they have half the evidence that link says they do, the NCAA won't really have much work to do performing their own shitty slow investigation because all of their work has already been done for them

Cam Newton's stolen laptop for sale

We're past the midway point of the month of November, which means that we're a little over a month away from Christmas. So you've probably already begun doing some Christmas shopping for your family and friends, and if you have an Auburn fan in your life, or perhaps an Auburn hater, it seems I may have found the perfect gift for you to buy them.

Long before Cam Newton found himself in the midst of the current NCAA investigation into his recruitment and the alleged attempt of his father to sell his son to the highest bidder, Newton found himself in some trouble while at Florida for stealing another student's laptop. A laptop he threw out of his dorm room window when the police were called.

Well, how would you like to buy that stolen laptop? It turns out that somebody has it, and they sent an email to Deadspin on Tuesday to let them know that it's available for the right price.
My friend is in possession of the laptop that Cam Newton stole/purchased stolen and subsequently threw out a window while at UF. He's been contacted multiple times to sell. The serial number/model match that of the stolen laptop. In addition, the laptop has Cam's name written on it in large white letters. (See the police report which is already online for confirmation that this truly is the real laptop. It lists the serial number.). While the laptop is damaged from its fall out a window and will not function, it would definitely be of the highest entertainment value. Would your site be interested in bidding for it?
While I'm not sure how interested the site is in buying the laptop, I'm sure if you're interested you could contact Deadspin yourself to find out how you could go about buying it. But hurry, Christmas will be here before you know it
