The fantastic stupidity involved probably explains everything, actually. I wouldn't be surprised if "Cameron cheated twice and got caught twice on the same damn paper" circulated for a bit among students who had immediate knowledge of it. It's just too dumb to be contained and makes too good a tale of idiocy. Potentially there may not have even been a third (recorded) incident of cheating - stories that circulate in this manner tend to mutate slightly and the magic number of three incidents found in fairy-tales and urban legends tends to be reached.
