Check the new Springhill Suites on Olentangy River Rd. Just opened a few months ago and is definitely within walking distance of the stadium. You'll see plenty of fans walk right past your hotel on the way.
+1

Just looked at the map, slightly south of King, easy walk back to the Medical School complex and Stadium. Added bonus, you'd be on the right side to take a car to two of my favorite food spots in the city - ones that would stand up to Berkeley - SF standards: Spagio's - especially if the weather is nice and you can eat outside. Wood fired oven pizza, Pacific Rim menu, good wine list. Close by, on Fifth, is a great French Bakery, the French Loaf, featuring outstanding croissants, the most sinful of which is filled with dark chocolate.

Did you just talk about croissants in a football forum?

What is the world coming to?

Well, the guy is coming in from the Coast and I wouldn't want him to think that Columbus is limited to the slab-of-beef-potato-head-lettuce-salad capital of the free world.

That and the croissants are damn fine.

Yeah, yeah. When in Rome, however.

The Hyatt Place mentioned on the last page is a great value. We stayed at the one in Grandview right next to Buckeye Grill. They shuttle you from the hotel to Champps @ Lenox for free. Our driver mentioned they do offer transportation after the game, however I can not verify that is correct. I may have had too many adult beverages.

As for the Blackwell, I have stayed there about 3-4 times during a football weekend. Yes that is where the players stay on Friday night. During one stay, one of the players actually knocked on our hotel door, trying to wake us up on Saturday. My wife said he was very confused/surprised when she opened the door. The trick with the Blackwell is to wait until the week of the game. Most times rooms become available Thursday on hotels.com. Now its not cheap, by CBUS standards, however the convenience of being that close is priceless.

Piemelon: You won't find a brewpub as good as Jupiter in Columbus, but Barley's isn't all that far behind.

If you want fine dining, try DeepWood. Outstanding; it's in the Hampton Inn (yes, really).

We look forward to seeing the Bears invade Ohio Stadium!
