“Ohio State is just the standard I am looking for,” Baker told On3. “I had been there before, so I didn’t have too many questions, but they did a great job with me. My expectations weren’t too high, but they set the bar pretty high.”
“I definitely felt better about Ohio State at the end of the visit. Spending time with Justin Frye, sitting down with Ryan Day and just seeing how they laid everything out there for me made an impact on me.”
“The player development piece at Ohio State stood out. It is a development factory. And it’s not just offensive linemen either, but overall. They put guys in the league and that stood out to me. That is what I am looking for.”
“Coach Frye has a great plan for me if I went there. We sat down to watch film for almost two hours and he showed me some things he can enhance and some things I do well. He is a good coach with a good plan. I liked talking with him and I appreciated his effort and his time.”
“Ohio State is an A1 place to be. They have great coaches, they develop players and my visit went really well.”

The national analyst team had a lot of back and forth on the top offensive line recruit conversation, with Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei's
Brandon Baker
winning out against stout competition (the other contenders were also ranked within the top 30 overall). Not only is Baker the only projected offensive tackle among the top three offensive line recruits in the updated Rivals250, he could be among the safest bets at any premium position in the class.
More tape of him working against some of the best competition in the nation won't hurt, though the resume is already among the best at the position to date. It's part of the reason why Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, USC, Texas and others are clamoring for a potential commitment.
Should this recruitment end sooner rather than later, look for the Ducks or Buckeyes to be in the best shape to land the new No. 1 player in the offensive trenches.
I am in the same boat, the HS is also my biggest reason to approach with trepidation. Plus the interviews after the visit aren't exactly glowing, though I know better than to go off those because he might be as revealing as the Sweater Vest in interviews. But Wyatt Davis, NPF, and a few others example the exception to that rule on OL, so I will give it the Lloyd Christmas and say there is a chance.https://n.rivals.com/news/rivals-rankings-week-breaking-down-the-2024-offensive-linemen-1
I really want to be optimistic about this one. I really do. And if it wasn't this HS I would. There has to be a 1st to start are "in" on the HS, and why not him
But these are the type of battles OSU needs to start winning

MATER DEI

Oregon continues to be a major contender for the top-rated offensive tackle. He says it feels like home, his brother graduated from there and he loves everything about the Ducks. But he’s had other great visits to Ohio State, Texas and Florida State as all three also remain major players.
A commitment could come in August or September for the Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei standout but he’s working on scheduling an official to Nebraska in the fall and if that happens then Baker will push his pledge to December.
Great comp really. And this OL class is wildly average without him. But with him, I am very happy with it, though we probably want to add one more.In terms of being a very highly rated OT with a hard to read and quiet recruitment this one reminds me a lot of the NPF recruitment
Same ending please.
