2023 CA DE Matayo Uiagalelei (Oregon Signee)

Honestly don’t care if we take DJ as long as he knows he has to win it. But I’m guessing they both end up in Oregon. DJ could light up either schedule and win 10-11 games.
Thats where I'm at also. Take the kids and see if they ae good enough to play here. He was at Clemson but the BiG is different. We have room now so bring them both in.

Any chance we could convince DJ his future is as a TE?

I doubt it.

My sense is he will end up somewhere where is guaranteed to be QB1.

I have no idea where that would be or if it be a place that interests his younger bro.

Did I mention NIL yet?

USC & Oregon I submit are a bit more organized on the NIL front.
This!
Not to mention both brothers can go to Oregon together. But it is not set on if Nix will return or not
And MU could go to USC and DJ to UCLA and the family would be happy from what I’ve seen

And DJ would be lucky to be 2nd string at OSU

The unwillingness to shell out money upfront is going to set OSU and other B1G teams back even more. OSU will hang bc they are Ohio State, but are going to continue missing out on these high-profile kids late in the cycle due to NIL deals being done behind the scenes.

Oh that’s the kicker, they aren’t done behind the scenes! If I know the numbers, or are even in the ballpark, than Day and Co for damn sure know more specifically what the offer numbers are. And I’m sure that’s one of Days main frustrations and why he had the press conference where he gave a number to keep his roster. Coaches saw where the Portal and NIL were headed. Saban and Kiffin tried to warn fans, and now here we are.
I’m sure Day and Gene would love to go to a collective and tell them which players they want have them go after them and figure out the financials. But they can’t because the collective haven’t generated close to enough capital to lure the elite recruits. 2024 will be the year they have to fix this problem. If people are worried about losing The Game, how will fans react to losing to PED St, Wisky AND MSU or Maryland each or every other year, regardless of the HC on top of that? :pissed3:

Let me get this straight. You've got a school that churns out ~40-50K new alums a year, been going at that clip for decades, has the largest, most rabid and passionate fanbases in the sporting world because it's the only good team that represents a state of over 11MM people.....and you can't raise money?

Yahoo ran an article that estimated our fanbase at 11million people. We need, say, $30MM to be at the top of the food pyramid in NIL recruiting.

This shouldn't be that hard folks.

And OSU has barely raised $3mil…

People rather give money to get their names on things. Throwing money at a unproven high school kid is a tough sell.

Some fan bases obviously don't care. Our do apparently.
That’s exactly it. OSU big money donors want their name on a building in Columbus, their counterparts in the south have been paying for players for generations. Heck, the Bagman story came out 8 years ago! And guys who weren’t even wealthy, but were probably business owners, or guys making enough to have the disposable income to give a kid a duffel bag or McDonalds bag of money behind the local Walmart. And they enjoyed the fact they they lured Recruit X to their school. OSU hasn’t been known to go to those lengths, and you’re seeing the difference in fan bases.

I was 100% convinced it was Gene and the OSU leadership structure yanking the reigns behind the scenes. Then I see Gene have to make a public appeal for money to the NIL's and um...I'm still trying to process it.
No, The Foundation with the legacy kid and Cardale dropped the ball big time! No one knows what Cardale even does, or JT or the countless other former players on the board, or the board in general. Other than post pics on social media from tailgates.
