C/O of 11WBiggins just dropped a note over at Bucknuts on Matayo …
”Nothing super earth shattering here. There was some talk that he could visit UGA this weekend but he's going to see his brother play at ND. It sounds like he's going to wait until Signing Day to make a decision and I continue to hear if there is a leader right now, it's probably Ohio State.”
https://www.landgrantholyland.com/2...tate-prospect-high-on-the-buckeyes-recruitingSpeaking solely on Uiagalelei here, the five-star defensive end has visit plans this weekend, and it’s not exactly a program that’s been linked closely to his recruitment, as Ohio State, Oregon and USC continue to be the main schools associated with the St. John Bosco product. At any rate though, Matayo will be in South Bend this weekend checking out Notre Dame. Of importance, Clemson is the opponent for the Irish, and seeing his quarterback brother is likely the main rooting interest for this weekend’s trek.
Not close to a decision, Uiagalelei has been rumored to take his recruitment the distance and potentially sign to the school of his choice much later than the December signing period allows. Focusing mainly on his prep season, much of the buzz surrounding Matayo will likely come at the close of his season and when recruiting can once again take priority.

To summarize: OSU still looking good, but Oregon is keeping it tight. MU is the one who reached out to UGA since they are the reigning NCs, but he said he has little to no relationships with their coaches. They stopped recruiting him after his Sophomore season. Wanted to keep an option open(but this will still be a “business decision”), but still looks positive for OSU, as he said that he has the best relationship with LJsr. And LJsr has also kept a great relationship with his parents (important because mom is going to be the decision maker)
I hate the business decision talk changing from I’m gonna go there, compete and get coached, drafted higher than my competitors. Into the business decision talk of “pay be before I’m worth a damn”. Honestly I’d hate this kid in the class but his talent is incredible. DJ isn’t gonna get drafted, so hope that 200k Clemson gave them is worth itLove it, I always saw Oregon as the primary threat here and we will see what happens, but I maintain that if we somehow snag 2 of MU/Wilson/Keeley that would be an absolute homerun that LJ Sr. would have to be salivating over if he adds a pair to Moore, Smith Jr. and McDonald...interior is loaded in this class, just need ourselves a couple big rushmen on the edge. I have Wilson as my "1a" guy but I would be thrilled with any combination of the aforementioned DE's.
The "business decision" talk may well be which school/ coaches would best prepare him by maximizing his draft potential (development). Long term money. Or not. I have no idea. I've never met Wilson or his family. I do know Day and the other coaches talk about guys that fit the culture, and they appear to want Wilson. Or maybe the coaches are lying and really just want the best talent regardless of fit. They really don't care about culture. (But I doubt it.) I really believe this comes down to trust the coaches.I hate the business decision talk changing from I’m gonna go there, compete and get coached, drafted higher than my competitors. Sometimes I’d say this, but this doesn’t fit the quotes from his dad and such about the $$$. If it were up to me, and thankfully it’s not, I’d move on but also, I do trust the coaches so we shall seeThe "business decision" talk may well be which school/ coaches would best prepare him by maximizing his draft potential (development). Birm says the dad isn’t as involved in the decision as you’d think. It seems somewhat similar to the Keon Keeley situation, where his uncle is pushing him to huge up front money in the SEC, while it seems pretty clear, in Birm’s opinion at least, that Ohio State is the choice if it were entirely up to him. Birm even went so far as to speculate that Keeley is waiting til later in the cycle to announce a decision so that the uncle has less time to be upset and react if Keeley does choose to turn down the massive up front money that the uncle has clearly also been promised.Sometimes I’d say this, but this doesn’t fit the quotes from his dad and such about the $$$. Funnily enough, Birm has been saying he thinks Matayo ends up at Oregon for awhile, as well.
He would slide into the QB spot since Nix is leavingHonestly don’t care if we take DJ as long as he knows he has to win it. But I’m guessing they both end up in Oregon. DJ could light up either schedule and win 10-11 games.
