C Greg Oden (All B1G, All-American, Defensive Player of the Year, Butler Assistant Coach)

Added to stand up to Pacers, Oden inactive Sunday

Greg Oden was in a suit and out of action Sunday for the Heat.

Signed in the offseason with the expectation of providing a playoff counter to Roy Hibbert, Greg Oden could only watch from behind the bench in a suit during Sunday's 107-96 loss to the Indiana Pacers, the hulking Miami Heat center inactive for Game 1 of these Eastern Conference finals.

As Oden looked on, Hibbert scored 19 points, got to the foul line for a game-high 13 free throws and grabbed nine-rebounds. His contribution helped boost the Pacers to a 38-29 rebounding advantage and 29-point scoring edge from the foul line.

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra cited back spasms that had sidelined Oden late in the season, even though he returned for the regular-season finale and then was on the active roster for the postseason-opening 4-0 sweep of the Charlotte Bobcats, with Michael Beasley made inactive for those games.

Wow. Out of every football/basketball player that's come through Ohio State in recent years, he's the last one that I expected to see in a mugshot.

From the report though, he's at least acting like a man and taking responsibility for everything.

I wonder what big Greg's outlook is for next season.

He'll never play in the NBA again. Teams were willing to give him a chance because he could be had for very cheap, he was still young and tall, and he was generally considered a likeable guy. Take away the last part and he just becomes an injury-plagued distraction.

Just unbelievable. Never been more disappointed in a former Buckeye. If the allegations are true (and it appears they are), then he deserves to sit in a jail cell for a few months.

If his account is the truth, and I don't see why he shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt, then the woman that grabbed him should be in jail. I think everyone here knows how i feel about hitting women. That being said, man, woman, child, flora or fauna grabs me, I have every right in the world to remove myself from their grip.
