C Greg Oden (All B1G, All-American, Defensive Player of the Year, Butler Assistant Coach)

Maybe I'm just an optimist, but I am always looking to see if he came out and said that he'll be staying another year

You think you're an optimist? I keep looking to see if he came out and said "I love it here and have decided to commit right now to all 4 years with the Buckeyes while I complete my college education..."

Is there a Praying smilie in the list?

This business of Oden staying or leaving is a little mind-warping to me. Frankly, I think I might prefer to see him go; a career-threatening injury while Greg wears the scarlet & gray would make me feel awful were he to stay.

On the other hand, Buckeyes would have the inside track for a national championship, so maybe it would be worth the risk to him.

I'm greedy. I want him to stay for one more.

BTW. Congrats. 666 posts

hes ready to go to the NBA now but i think it would benefit him to stay another year. either its his choice and i respect it. i think his overall physique could improve as well as finer points in his game which would make the transition to the NBA easier as well. plus conley and the rest of his friends are all staying so while that doesnt mean much from a distance im sure personally it kinda hits home somewhere with him.

Completely agree. That's the exact same way that I look at it. When I see this thread at the top, I think, "okay, hopefully the big guy has said he's staying." One can only hope.

Wooden Finalists Can Coach Too

Oden suffers loss in semifinals

LOS ANGELES - Greg Oden helped coach one of four Special Olympic basketball teams Friday as part of the Wooden Award weekend festivities at the Los Angeles Athletic club in downtown LA.
Oden coached against fellow freshman Wooden finalist Kevin Durant of the University of Texas in the first of two semifinal games. Durant's team prevailed to advance to the title game vs. a team coached by Wisconsin's Alando Tucker. Tucker knocked off a team coached by Acie Law IV of Texas A&M.

Great find by BB73 and worthy of a GPA.

I mean really, how cool is this? You get these "man-children" together coaching these "special" individuals about teamwork and fun. The sky is the limit for these kids, and they all deserve Kudo's for giving of themselves to put a smile on the face of others with absolutely nothing to gain for them. If these young people are true representatives of the future of this country, I'd say the future looks pretty damn good! Peace.

Good post yourself, Woody.

Oden's impact big, probably brief

April 8, 2007

The Oden finally cometh.

Whether Greg Oden cometh out remains to be seen, but if his monster NCAA championship game was his last for Ohio State, at least he got to show what he could do.

Oden has until April 29 to decide, but even in Ohio, it's assumed he's gone.

Teammate Mike Conley Jr. recently told the Indianapolis Star, "It will be very hard when Greg's not here next year," before changing it to, "if he's not here next year."
