C Byron 'B.J.' Mullens (Levanga Hokkaido Sapporo - Japan)

im a big bj fan also. you guys all know that. i havent seen all the kids play, though i cant really think that many kids id rather have than mullens.

I have only seen the game from aminu in the finals of the king James tourney, but I would put BJ ahead of him...

Monroe looks really good on film, and is a lefty in the mold of Kevin Durant, and is very athletic, but is lean...

I havent seen Holiday, but there are quite a few that think he could be the #1 player...

Either way I agree that BJ is the kid I will take, he will have a bigger impact on a game than any of these guys merely by his defense and his ability to rebound any ball that comes off the rim...He is going to have a more than college ready body when he gets here, and if KK is still here, teams are goign to have huge problems matching up with us in the front court...

I was lurking on another board yesterday and some poster who claimed that he was "close" to Mullens said that his physician told B.J. that he might grow another 1-2 inches. If it is true, I certainly hope he doesn't lose any of his coordination but I can't believe that we will get a 7' 3" freshman. That would almost be too much to take.

I can't imagine Mullens at 7'3''... :yow1:

I would give him a solid 7' and maybe 7'1''...I have stood beside him a couple times, and seen him try and fit down in the seats at the schott...

When you are that tall what difference does 1" or 2" mean? I see no reason to quibble over his height as long as he is 7' or taller:)

I just makes your arms be able to go that much higher, when effecting shots on the defensive end, also allows you to get to more rebounds.

It is the same thing as being 6'9' to being 6'11''/7 foot...There is a big difference...Heck at 7'3'' if his body continues to develop the way it has he could become like shaq at 7'3'' and just being able to dominate...

Mullens/Oden could be the matchup that decides championships for a 10 year span in the NBA...

2 inches more? perhaps 10 more blocks and 20 more altered shots.

Just havin a little fun with everyone quibbling over 7' 1" or 7' 2" or.... People have to remember that the best shot blocker of all time was a guy that was not even 6' 10" by the name of Bill Russell. Shot blocking and rebounding is more about timing and position but I know you know that:)

You are one smart cookie LitlBuck. Just think about the shot blocking abilities and lack thereof in some of our recent players. It's timing and postion. Russell was the only player who defended Chamberlain succesfully.

Height isn't anything without talent and ability, FWIW

sure, it's more about the natural shot-blocking abilities of the player than it is just about the height of the player. all things being equal, though, 2 extra inches are 2 extra inches. i don't think it's unreasonable for a few fans to be hopeful that mullens does grow a couple more inches. it would positively impact his effect.

discussing height without talent and ability has absolutely nothing to do with mullens.
