Buckeyes from your hometown/HS

OHH GOSH....Many From Akron

Just a Couple from Solon.....

Solon = Drew Carter.....Jim (Saks) Savoka

How old are you ABuck? I played football in college with a dude from Solon. Great guy... Joe Zarlinga.

Anyway, not sure if it's been posted, but Westerville SOUTH was my high school. I played with Robert Guiliani, Chris Kirk, Andy Katzenmoyer, David Mitchell, and of course we produced Brandon Joe, Ben Nash (walk-on 2001-2002) as well as many others. Even played with a certain RB that went to Penn State to set many Nittany Lion records. Don't remember his name. Considering all of the receivers at Toledo, the current crop of talent this year, etc. A "football factory" of sorts for Central Ohio. Of course I don't know what happened to my Ohio State career.

Edit: BuckTwenty beat me to it. Good lookin' out, man. :)

No one from my high school Whetstone. My hometown: The only two-time Heisman trophy winner & many other great players, too many to name.

Wasn't there a QB in the 80's that went to OSU?

Maybe not, but I saw on the news here a couple weeks ago something about him. He was a star QB from Whetstone, they showed some video of him at Whetstone in the 80's. I think he was found dead.

Hell maybe I'm losing it.

Graduated from Whetstone in 67. No one went to OSU prior to that (unless they paid tuition) to play football. Had several that played at MAC schools. 'Slippery Rock' was not a football or basketball bastion, but had a decent tennis team 'in the day'.

Go Slippery Rock River Rats.

They had a "good/ok" team in 2004. Went 7-3. But two of those loses came to us and Haven. Can't remember the other loss.

This year they went 5-5

Back in the day, when they shipped us across town to different schools. I should have graduated from Linden McKinley. They had some former Buckeyes. One guy lived next door was Jim Cleamons. The former all-american for the buckeyes, he played for the Laker's early 70's and got a ring. He was an asst coach with the Bulls & Laker's with Phil Jackson.

Yea that whole making kids go to schools on the other side of the town was real stupid.

Now you can get bused to any school you want to. But they want to eliminate that and make you go to your home HS. Its a plan to save money on gasoline costs. I heard of some kid that lived on Brice Rd and was bused all the way to Centennial. It was over a hour bus ride.

I'll learned something this year from a teacher that I never knew before. CPS buses for all schools in Columbus. DeSales, Hartley, Watterson, are all bused by CPS. And they don't get paid for it from those schools. I guess since CPS is open enrollment and they allow students to choose what school they want to go to, they are required by law to bus students inside the district to private schools.

By eliminating open enrollment and the busing that goes with it, they will no longer have to bus kids that are not in their district.
