BuckeyePlanet Mock Draft

sorry fellas...

Detroit selects Shawne Merriman of Maryland.

Detroit needs an impact DE, and Merriman gives the Lions the versatility of a Mike Vrabel or a Willie McGinest. TE was another need, but the signing of Marcus Pollard means we can pick one up later in the draft.

With the 11th pick of the first round, Dallas selects:

Aaron Rodgers, QB from California

I know that we've got Vinny, Drew Bledsoe, and Drew Henson already. We've got to take the pick that gives us the most value. Some teams will be willing to trade next year's 1st rounder for Aaron, just not in a mock draft.

I also know that Bill Parcells wants to get immediate help, but this is my team and my pick. And I made the 15-minute window!

My man Marty talked to me about this pick and we had Shawne Merriman's name written on the card and ready. We were surprised that Detroit took him as we would have looked at trading up one spot with Dallas to secure our man. But that did not happen.

Looking at our board the rest of the defensive lineman are not rated high enough to warrant selecting them at this current spot. So without further ado commissioner, here is our draft card.

Paul Tagliabue "With the 12th pick of the 2005 NFL draft the San Diego Chargers select Troy Williamson out of the University of South Carolina"

Marty Schottenheimer "We are escatic to get Troy, he is an explosive playmaker and along with Antonio Gates will give us alot of weapons on offense... I see a gleem!!!"

Wow, lots of activity over night. Houston is on the clock, but we all know that Houston is a baseball town so we will have to wait until the umpires get off their asses and make their pick :p. While we are waiting, you can all reflect on the latest trade.

The Raiders have made a concentrated effort to get rid of the garbage on their team. And with one swoop they have just cut their load in half. The Raiders are pleased to announce they have traded Charles Woodson to Kansas City for their first round pick.

I'm happy I'm going to a team run by a domer. They kicked my school's ass this year, so they must know more about football than we do. Hopefully he can turn me around and make people forget I ever played for that school up north. Now excuse me, I have to get ready to make Carolina's pick.

Houston is on the clock

Houston is going to select DeMarcus Ware, OLB/DE, Troy

This guy is exactly what Houston needs. They have an open spot for an OLB on the defense, and Ware's speed on the outside is exactly what the Texan defense needs. He may not have the size to play DE, but he could be used there in some schemes too. After his performance during the Senior Bowl, he showed that he can dominate at a level far better than that which Troy usually played against. This guy would have been a stud at any DI school.

I was out having dinner, what do you want me to do? :p
Lots of action today. Houston picked up a good LB from Troy, Pac Man got gobbled up by Carolina, oops Oakland did it again picking up Marcus Spears (you know somebody is going to say that.....probably that dumbass Chris Berman), and the Saints couldnt pass on Thomas Brown. Cinci is now on the clock, make it a good pick because the bungle fans are getting restless.
