Fantasy BuckeyePlanet Fantasy Football - Keeper League (R.I.P.)

I don't mind the change (definitely makes more sense as well as significantly more challenging), but does that mean we're changing the draft date. I would guess we'd have to.

Everyone will need to get in our new / confirm our existing keepers asap even if we do back the draft up a week or so. We're running a bit short on time...that's my only concern.

I don't know that I'd necessarily change my keepers, but the new format would make Phillip Rivers & Ray Rice look very tempting!

Let me know which way we decide to go.

...when we need to lock in keepers if we change to this draft format.

...when the new draft date is, etc.

Looks like we have five votes in favor of the change and one indifferent so far. One more vote in favor is a majority. If we get one more vote in favor I'll set a new draft date to give everybody time to reassess their keepers.

jwins, I have no objection to the rules you proposed, but I have a question: What should we do if somebody wants to keep two players that would cost them their pick for the same round? Do we prohibit keeping two players that would conflict? Assign one of them to the next highest round?

We can move the date back, but first lets see if everyone is fine with their keepers or can make a quick tweak. Or do we have to move it back soon?

Keeping two players with a 7th round value will cost you a 6th & a 7th.

I've also seen rules where you surrender a draft pick 1-2 rounds higher than where they were picked... just tossing that out there if that sounds better than our current proposal.

Thanks for the clarification. That sounds like a good rule. If we end up going forward with this I'll be sure to keep track of trades during the season. This year it would be on the honor system I guess.

I would want to adjust. I think my friend might too. We can both have ours ready by this Sunday.

Sunday 9/6 is the latest we can have the draft.

I'm fine with keeping the current date though if everybody else is.

I like "where they were picked" instead of 1-2 rounds higher. It's a better reward for smart drafting and risk-taking at the back end of the draft.

I don't even remember mine...

The only one that stuck out to me... was Tom Brady a waiver wire guy or a trade? Anyone know?

I get the feeling Brady was waived. My friend drafted him in the first round. When Brady got hurt I think he forgot it was a keeper league. I'll check with him, but he's probably not sure what happened.

Also forgive my n00b-itude, but I assume we have to make these decisions without knowing the draft order? I'm just thinking that if I have the 12th pick in round 1, it might be a great deal for me to keep my #1 pick but let my #2 pick go so I can repick early, etc.

The draft order would remain the same as planned. It's a snaking draft, going in reverse order in even-number rounds. Order is determined by last year's final standings, with noobs going to the back of the draft. Here it is again:

  1. The S&G Show (scarletandgrey)
  2. New Carlisle (jlb's friend - not on BP)
  3. The Soup Vixens (jlb1705)
  4. Charlie Luvs Burgers (BuckTwenty)
  5. SuperFanChaChi (Padraig)
  6. Spybait (jwinslow)
  7. Saccamano's Storks (Bob Saccamano)
  8. Appalachia Moonshine (Ahiacitian)
  9. Boll Weevils (Bucklion, formerly SparkyOSU)
  10. Psycho D (Derek2K3, formerly FKA)

OK, the correct response to me would apparently have been:

STFU nOOb!!! :!:!:!

Well it looks like we already have a majority, but I think it is a good idea as well. Does a distinction need to be made of the players that were dropped from the time of the original draft from last year? For example, it appears that I could keep Matt Schaub with a 12th round pick, but in reality I dropped him during the season and didn't end up with him on my final roster. He was then picked up by someone else and would then cost that person a 7th, but as it looks right now, it just appears that both of us have a right to keep him. Obviously the player had to be on your final roster of the season in order to be kept.

I am pretty sure Brady was dropped as well. I remember thinking it was a smart move by Under Overachievers who picked him up at the end of the season to be a potential keeper for this year.

I say we keep the current draft time and set a deadline for 11 pm on Monday night if you want to change your keepers. If you don't make the deadline or haven't checked this thread by late Monday, then you just keep the two players already submitted and lose those two draft slots from which they were selected last year.

This does make it alot more difficult in picking keepers though, imo. Chris Johnson is a no brainer for a 9th rounder, but do I keep Michael Turner for the 3rd, or do save the earlier round pick and keep Aaron Rodgers or Pierre Thomas for a 7th? Intriging indeed...

O.K.

I'm sticking with my stated keepers. Ray Rice in round 15 is really, really tempting, but MJD @ pick 16 & Fitzgerald @ pick 25 is still fantastic. imo

And I have no problem keeping the set draft date & time either.
