Buckeye Tailbacks - 2005 (official thread)

I have heard Russell might well be the steal of the class & is a very good RB. Ran the wishbone in high school but an assistant @ his school used to coach w/ Tress & called Tress to inform him of his talent's. when the OsU staff checked him out they loved what they saw and offered. apparently he has very good vision & his measurables are impressive. Also heard he is the kind of back that can be effective running between the tackles. i think he will be @ TB before Lennix, but Fred is another option given your worst case scenario.

I've heard the same thing gsnuts. I know he put up some ridiculous stats in the one year he got to carry the ball.

Also, does anyone know for sure if Matt Schumacher from Delphos St John is walking on this fall? He was borderline on getting an offer and has some experience running the ball.

What would happen if we had the RB injury issues that Iowa had last year?
The following message is written in sarcasm font:

Don't worry, Maurice will still be available after the draft and he still has three years of elgibility.

You may now return your computer to its usual font.

From the roster page:

#44
Matthew Johnson
POS: RB
Class (acad.): SO
Eligibility: FR
High School: Upper Arlington HS (Upper Arlington, OH)
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 190
Varsity letters: --
DOB: 14 Jul 1983

This is all I know of him. We also have Dionte Johnson.

The only way Dionte Johnson weighs 190 pounds is if he had just one foot on the scale.

Russell and Lenix would be the obvious "Ira Guilford" possibilities this fall. Otherwise, it should be interesting to see whether the talk of working out Roy Hall in the backfield translates to anything in the Spring Game. That might be a good time to get some ideas.

Mounting evidence seems to point to Anderson Russell as a real possibility at running back if his cards fall right and he lights it up in August! Big IF though. The coaches are very excited about him! Let me add, he was ALL State Honorable Mention, at RB!

who was the fb that quit the team just before the start of the 2002 season because of injuries? branden joe was out for a couple of games at that point for his dui. folks on some sites suggested moving a freshman linebacker to fullback because we had too many linebackers on the team and he was just a throw-in type of guy. i think his name is hawk. HA!
roflmao!! that kills me. if anything he should have started as a freshman over cie grant.

worst case and we loose 5-ish tailbacks. i see no real difference between that and the last 2 years... in fact, i recall iowa's 52nd string found him living in a box under a bridge panhandling for alchy money tb outrushing our senior 2nd year starter fairly handily. it would take an impressive set of events for our tb situation to get worse than it has been so im not conscerned .
