Buckeye Tailbacks - 2004 (official thread)

JT rotates backs enough that it really doesn't matter who starts - only who gets the hot hand.

I'm more concerned about who is and who isn't getting the job done upfront.

Iowa showed us that you can run with just about anyone if your line blocks.

Except for when Ross is available then he won't take him out for any reason - poor performance, lack of effort, or fumbles...

I think the fumble by Pittman may have led to him sitting a little more today...

If Ross is in the game, he can get some blocking and still keep a big hole from becoming much more than a 5-7 yard pickup where Hall or Pittman would get 10-25.

Our most capable Back?

Ok, all strip club currencies, tardiness, and OL issues aside. Who is our most capable running back we have right now and why? My vote goes to Pittman. He seems to be the only back that we have that sees holes well, hits them hard and the only guy that breaks tackles. I would bet is Yards After Contact is the highest of all of them. From my standpoint, I would give him the ball more than anyone, as I see him as the best we have. I might be wrong, but is puzzles me why he doesn't play more. Curious who you think should get the ball tomorrow.

Overall, it's Pittman. As yt6 pointed out above, Pittman has broken more tackles than any of our backs...probably more than all other tailbacks combined. I don't recall him fumbling yet, and he definitely is as fast, if not faster, than any of them. Along with his knack for finding what holes that are there, his willingness to take on tacklers, his balance, and his ability to take it outside when the need arises, he's the best we have in my mind. He's going to be an excellent back next year and could be one of our great backs by the time he leaves.

I think Pittman runs the most inspired. I guess since he's redshirting, we don't know about Haw. I really liked what I saw from him in HS and allstar games, but that isn't college.

But, to answer your question, I'll stick with Pittman for now.

Pittman lost one in the India... nope.. never mind. That was reviewed and wasn't a fumble. My bad.
