Buckeye Tailbacks - 2004 (official thread)

In a perfect world we could maintain loyalty in a Senior tailback praying for a breakout year.

actually in a perfect world, we play the best player. Screw loyalty. if the player isn't cutting it, he isn't cutting it. There are plenty of other seniors on the team who deserve to go to a good bowl game to have their chance ruined by a crappy player.

HE HAD A LINE LAST YEAR.
Who had a line last year??
Ross??
The line last year was no better than this year, both are horrid.
I like Pittman, I like what I have seen.
However, no one, with the exception of a once in a lifetime talent (i.e MoC)
could run behind either one of these lines.

On the surface Pittman looks like a much better back.

Tressel has always shown loyalty to the seniors so I'm sure that's a large part of why Ross still gets the majority of the carries (what? 7 a game?).

I have to believe that another reason they are not exclusively using Pittman is they have to be concerned if his body can sustain the beating. Clarrett couldn't. Pittman is a good 30 pounds smaller than Mo was as a freshman.

For our line supposively SO MUCH QUICKER........ we sure do the same damn thing...... RUN RIGHT UP THE MIDDLE..... I thought we were suppose to take advantage of our smaller lineman not beat them the hell up in a total war.

Starting RB: Hall or Pittman?

I haven't watched MSU's rush defense against a weaker O-line (UM has a better line than us by far), but if the defensive pressure is similar to this week, I would vote for Hall. He showed a lot of speed, heart, and power out there, much more than Pittman. Also, Pittman has put the ball on the ground a couple of times now (I realize both times he was stood up), whereas Hall has not.

I love Pittman and was thrilled when he finally got a chance to play against Indiana, but I would vote that you have to give the starting spot to Hall next week (tho pittman should see action too early on, to figure out which is going to be the key back).

Also, did Dionte get much PT today? Maybe Joe borrowed a pair this week, and he did do well, but I was curious why we didn't let our freshman go out and hit some people more often.
