Buckeye Receivers - 2005

First time BP poster, BN poster since 2001-2002 recruiting season.

Davis will NEVER ever be a Buckeye. If he bled S&G like the rest of us, he would have never gone on that journey late in the night to USC. Even if he has interest in us (which most likely he doesn't), I don't see us offering him. Believe it or not, him going to USC in the beginning was a blessing in disguise. We landed Devon Lyons with the extra WR scholarship we had left from him leaving the state. PLUS, because of that, we currently are in the lead in landing his kid brother Wesley, who seems like a stud in the making. We might end up trading a problem child for two future stars.

I'd like to see Carlos Thomas in this class. He's at the top of my board for BOTH WR and CB that are remaining that we have a LEGITIMATE chance at. It's been hinted at by the coaching staff that at least one of Hartline/Amos will become a CB, leaving room for another WR in this class. With Lymon gone, I think CT's the go-to guy to finish out CB's or WR's.

Disagree. If he contacts JT & co. about transferring, he will be accepted IMHO. All of his past transgressions will be forgiven if he tears it up on the field or if he chooses to continue his present path of poor decisions, he will be another Kerr who stays in the doghouse.

The kid is near rockbottom and has eaten a huge helping of humble pie...he either figures out that the problems lie within or he becomes another wasted talent. Either way, his potential is intact but his heart has to make that choice.

Will the bucks have the best WR core in the nation next year, I think so. holmes and Ginn are both great players, Gonzo is really stepping up, and I like what i have seen from Lyons so far?

Are there any other teams that can compare with our WRs next year?

Thoughts and opinions.

Lsu will have a good group with Dwyane Boone(jr), Craig Davis(jr), Early Doucet(so), Xavier Carter(so), and Skyler Green(sr). Anyone know what happend to Anthony Hill? If JaMarcus Russell can make good descision and live up to the hype he had coming to LSU in 2003 they could put up some big #'s. Imagine if spurrier would have got this group instead of the gamecocks.

ugggh.

i sometimes read the cryami board for pleasure, and they always talk like that.

"we have the best LB core in the nation."

"we have the best WR core in the nation."

blah blah blah.

We will be very good next year and we have a great shot to win the national title. We also have very good wide receivers. Whether or not they are the absolute best in the nation, I don't know nor do I care. All I know is that they will get the job done and they will make a lot of sweet plays. No offense to you, and I know that this wasn't the intent of your post, I just hate the blind arrogance and idiocy of cryami fans, and unfortunately your post sounded exactly like something they would write.

I was just ASKING a question. It is a long time till next season, and there isn't a whole lot going on with recruiting at this moment. Personally, I am tired of the threads about Zwick vs Smith or OSU and it's problems. I was just trying to come up with something that can be discussed, I wasn't trying to act all arrogant.

Thats what I'm worried about next year (maybe beside the QB picture). Could Tressel's gradual opening up of the playbook as the year progresses hurt our 2005 season? Or is this method good for any Ohio State team...

Well, IMO it will depend on:

1) Which QB is behind center as they both require different gameplans

2) The presence of a viable run game which all depends on the continued improvement of the OL

JT showed signs early on that he wanted to open it up but the lack of execution halted that plan. In the end, we saw his original plans or at least a portion of them as the unit came together. Less questions to answer next year and the lack of a guaranteed three points inside of the 35 might also spur JT to take some more shots at the zone.

It's not "core" but "corps", as in a closed-knit, highly disciplined and effective unit, like the Marine Corps.
