Buckeye Gatherings In Chicago

For anyone staying downtown, I?d suggest taking Metra instead of the ?L?. It?s a nicer ride, only takes 25 minutes from Downtown to Evanston Central Street and costs $5 roundtrip. The only downside is that the trains don?t run all that frequently. Here?s a link to their website:

And be forewarned if you?re taking the ?L?: It will be packed coming back after the game and you might have to wait for a few trains before you?ll finally get on. Don?t expect to get out of there quickly.

McGees is alright, but I prefer Mickeys. Much better talent and crowd in my opinion. Casey Morans sucks, they were the "official" bar last year and they just ripped everyone off. Our bus leaves from Wrigley Field at 1030am saturday....I can not wait, should be a blast.

I have no idea if they have a bus or not. One of my friends organized a bus for 50+ people to head up to NW. We are boozing the way up and tailgating before the game. Contact Bar1Events about a bus up to NW, they should be able to help you out if they have one.

Screw all you guys that are going to be there!  I just moved from chicago to NYC and was supposed to be there. I was on the bus trip THEWOOD speaks of. I doubt Mickey's has a bus trip, he was just commenting on a place to watch the game. Those waitresses are AMAZING :yow1:

I found another OSU bar in Chicago!

I've always went to Mickeys to watch the game because of the great crowd there, but at the same time, the great crowd is....well......TOO CROWDED! LOL! I was driving down Wrightwood St.....near Sheffield and noticed a bunch of OSU flags hanging outside of Grand Central. They adopted OSU as there college team this year. I stopped in to check it out, and the manager said that they have a huge buffet for $10. Also, he said starting next week they will have souvineer cups with unlimited beer refills and buffet for $20 or $25 bucks. I checked out the space and they have over 25 plasmas all in HD. They play the sound, and he said they had about 50 fans this past week. So I may jump ship and enjoy having a seat to watch the game, instead of standing because my hung-over lazy ass can't get up early enough to get a good seat! LOL! :) So maybe I'll see you guys there! Peace.

I'm heading to the Northwestern game next weekend. I expect a ton of Buckeye fans to be in Chicago for the game. Anyone know of any OSU fan gatherings on Friday night or Saturday?

How about in the burbs? Far Northwest burbs?!? Any bars that OSU fans go to watch the games?!?

Take the metra into the city
Find an Ohio State bar
Start Drinking
Achieve

If the McGees/Mickey's madness is too much (it is for me), try The Gaslight just North of Depaul. It's a very good, small bar with much better food/beers and liquor selection than the aforementioned. They do up the full Ohio State deal with fight songs during commercials etc, but the crowd is smaller and a little older than the just out of college crowd.

I agree with ORD, McGees is way too much of the cool crowd. McGees is best for watching the cool kids dance and do shots long after meaningful football has ended.

We always go to Kelly's Pub directly across the street from McGees. I enjoy giggling to myself watching the "football" fans stand in line for hours to get in to McGees while I'm sitting comfortably at the bar watching football. It's been a few years, but I believe they've upgraded their TVs. Also, their beer/drink prices are not outrageous.
