1. Santonio Holmes was the biggest loss on the offensive side of the ball?
Fiction. Holmes is irreplaceable, but a strong WR corps in 06 is not a stretch. Mangold is the best C in america, and took an NFL starter's job 4 years ago when he got to OSU. His body, smarts and experience simply cannot be matched early on by Cordle. I think Cordle will be a very good replacement, but it will take time.
2. Ginn will be a legitimate #1 reciever at the beginning of the year?
Fact. Holmes was the premiere #1 target, so matching his ability is not a prerequisite to making this claim a fact. He will continue to develop, and with Smith, Pittman/Wells, and Gonzo on the field... the D will not be able to key on Teddy.
3. Ohio State's defense will be ranked in the top 15 next year?
Fiction. I think they will surprise the nation and be pretty good. Top-15 is quite an achievement. Obviously we struggled a little in 04, but we were not in the top-15 in total D in 2002 either (#23).
4. Ohio State's offense will be ranked in the top 10 next year?
Fiction. I think they will be a top-10 offense, but not on paper. Tressel's refusal to run up the score and the strength of the big ten D will only contribute to this being the case.
5. Chris Wells will score more TD's than Antonio Pittman?
fiction. By season's end, I believe Wells may become our #1 redzone threat, but Pittman is no slouch inside. If he can pick up a good chunk of redzone TDs earlier in the season as Wells is progressing, I think they could come out pretty even in this regard.
