True story, since Herbie and Spiels are hardly ever on the air anymore, I have sometimes driven in complete silence than listen to The Fan. Rarely, I'll turn off the CD player to check back in to see if anything is new, but since Hooley and the Common Man & the Torg took over that station three or four years ago, I haven't listened to it since.

That station is fucking awful. It's sad, because they were GREAT back in '00-early '04. It's gone to shit since Uncle Fitty left.

The Torg is from Minnesota/Arizona, Common Man is from Chicago, and as has been documented, Hooley has issues regardless of where he is from.

It's no wonder they are cynical little douchebags 99% of the time when it comes to Ohio State athletics. Hey 97.1, fucking hire someone who is actually a fan of the sports teams they cover and maybe the quality of your programing will improve.

Never much cared for Hooley. His only shining hour in my mind came immediately following the death of Stephanie.

He always, to me, seemed a touch disgusted by Tressel's success with his gameplan. Never truly wanted to give credit to Tressel for his accomplisments. Always felt like at the first sign of trouble, he would be the anti-fan that's so unfortuneatly prevalent these days.

WOW. I would have loved to hear that...

I remember it vividly. Tom Friend came on the air and said that he had information that JT personally called clarett's family and physically threatened them if Maurice didn't keep quiet.

Damon Bruce basically called him out on it and asked what evidence he had? Friend would not respond. Bruce said something along the lines of "did this come from Mr. such and such as well?" and told him that he can't toss out accusations like that without any real proof. Friend stammered around for a little bit, then tried to move on to something else.

Damon Bruce was gone shortly thereafter.

I actually don't mind the Common Man and the Torg. I view their show more as entertainment as opposed to a sports news show, and I find their cynicism/complaining quite funny at times. IMO, they're much better than talking heads on other shows who take themselves too seriously and like to pass their "analysis" off as fact.

One summer I had nothing much to do at work other than listen to the radio. They were okay over the summer (this was before they started the "my guy" crap, what is up with that?) but once football season started I had to turn them off.

Don't hardly listen to them..........And I'm not sure which of the three it was (Hooley, Common Man or Torg) but they were talking during pre-game, I think one of the early non-Big Ten games this past season, and one of them misspoke and called Stoneburner Sanzo or vice versa, then when the other corrected him and said "You mean ......", He responded "Stoneburner / Sanzenbacher : Same difference. They're both slow white guys playing reciever for the Buckeyes, who wouldn't be able to play against corners with elite speed." (or something to that effect) And the other guy just laughed. I knew they were OSU haters after that. The only reason I'll listen to that station now is to hear the post-game interviews and such.
