Bruce Hooley - Biggest Idiot now back on the radio in Cleveland

Then there was Damon Bruce. He was on 1460 for maybe a month before he had the balls the call out Tom Friend during an on-air interview. 1460 canned him right after that. He's doing radio in SF now. Both of these guys were way better than anything they've had since, with the exception of Spielman. Hooley is the worst by far. I haven't listened to him since Spielman took a break.

That's the guy, I remember listening to him and then being surprised that he was gone.

Ian Fitzsimmons, who's now in Dallas (might have been in SLC at one time), was pretty good. Then there was Damon Bruce. I wonder if Herbstreit....who was fresh off of his big payday with ESPN.....petitioned WBNS to fire Damon Bruce because of heat he caught from ESPN.

hmmmm.....come to think of it, I bet Herbstreit defended Friend/ESPN by threatening WBNS with either get rid of Damon Bruce or I leave WBNS.

it wouldn't surprise me at all

Not that the answer is here... but... what the hell, it's a funny thread.

IMO, the best host 1460/97.1 the fan ever had was Ian Fitzsimmons. Entertaining, had a knack for getting great guests. Good show altogether.

As far as Hooley goes, a time out wouldn't surprise me. I didn't catch his show last Wednesday, but I did for a bit last Thursday, and that day he said he went over the line saying JT and what he did was at least as bad as SMU and the Pony Express.

He then went on to continue to rip Tressel, the admin, etc.... but that he was told to chill after being over the top.

He does not like Tressel. To be honest, I don't think Tressel has a lot of friends in the media, and he probably doesn't care. Tressel has not been friendly or open with the media and it drives them nuts.

With that in mind, and fair or not, Tressel can't expect the media to defend him the way they did Petey at USC.

My guess is with Herbie gone for all intents and purposes from the Fan, Hooley won't be far behind. I think the guy in his corner is Spielman and with Spielman on leave to work his show who knows.

I subscribe to the Big Show podcast because of Spiels and have still kept listening since his absence. Hooley is just fine when talking about Buckeye hoops, but it's clear he has an axe to grind with JT. This opened the floodgates for him and while I get the concern over the incident, Hooley's remarks have seemed personal to me.

Who?

:p

Never listened to a second of this guy. Based on what I've read here from time to time, why anyone would choose to listen is beyond me.

I wonder the same thing every time I do listen to Hooley, but the options for Buckeye talk radio are pretty limited--especially when the alternative during the same timeslot has been Cowherd :dead:

I watch the guy on Buckeye Roundtable or whatever the hell it's called and he comes across as a cynical, pretentious little asshole. I hope he gets canned and moves down to Nashville. The fact that this [Mark May] storm came from players selling things for free/discounted tattoos makes me feel meh about the whole situation. Good thing no other college football players have tattoos, huh Hooley?

I wonder how he can afford all those.

I was listening to Paul Finebaum's show the other day. There aren't too many options down here in Tennessee. All SEC, all the time. :( Anyways, Hooley was on his show absolutely torching JT and the Buckeye program. I was thinking to myself "who is this fucktard?" He was going on and on and Finebaum and SEC callers were eating it up. Finebaum has been using Hooley's comments as fodder for his anti-Buckeye rants over the last few days.

the way I look at it is that at some point Hooley crossed over from being controversial in Columbus to auditioning for his next gig in the South

why not ? the South has a hard on for the North......southerners can deny it all they want but it's true.....the South is a nice play to live out the second half of your life....the South would love nothing more than to gain a sense of superiority to quench their thirst for northern blood

stick it, hooley

Bruce Hooley vehicular homicide

A number of posters on the Scout board have stated that Hooley was responsible for the death of a young man in a collision that he caused a few years ago. One stated that the victim's family was 100% certain that Hooley was drunk at the time. I was unaware of this. Can anyone fill in the details?

I can't stand the guy but for everybody's sake, I hope that's not true.
