Browns fans- Who do you want to draft?

Which is why you don't necessarily try to meet that need with an unproven player via a draft pick.

Well, obviously. I'd rater get veterans any day. I'm basing my draft picks right now on the team we have. If we pick up a decent nose tackle and/or pass rusher in free agency, then I'll reevaluate my choice.

As for Carpenter over Greenway, I don't know about that. There's a shot that Carp will be around for us in the second round. Damn, can you imagine if we got both?

So your saying that we shouldnt draft a player that plays in the defensive front seven because its risk?

How did Shawn Merriman play this year?
Yeah, that's exactly what I'm saying.:roll1: Or, maybe I was saying that you don't bank your success on an unproven player. The Chargers took Merriman because he was the best player on the board, not because they had a glaring hole at linebacker.

DW proved this offseason that it was not just the lesser competition, the kid can flat out play.

Iron, I don't think the browns are at the point yet where they can avoid banking their success on an unproven player.

The Browns aren't at the point where they can bypass any player because they think they are set at that players position. If they feel that Greenway is the best player left at #12, then by God they had better draft him. If they feel that another player is better, but they really need an LB, then that's not a good enough reason to take him. They need help everywhere, and BPA is the best way to go most times, especially when you're as bad as the Browns are.

the only exceptions are qb, safety, and TE.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
I don't know if we're set at those positions or not, but you're right. Those are the three positions that I would not use an early pick. QB, TE, and Safety all have promising young guys, but I don't know how any of them will turn out, especially Winslow. I'm not sure how effective he'll be early in the season.

We should be set at TE, but Vernon Davis(I think thats his name) is an unbelievable athelte. Hes bigger/stronger/faster than Winslow was coming out of college.

I think we are also set at safety, but of course I still wouldnt mind taking a look at Whitner.

I meant to put Whitner in there as an exception to the not taking a safety early statement. Thanks for taking care of that for me.
