Browns fans- Who do you want to draft?

when people say our secondary is set, i have to respectfully disagree....i think it sucks.....daylon mcutcheon is a nickle back on some teams, leigh bodden isn't impressing me, our safeties arent up to par, brian russell wasn't even worth retaining as a backup in Minnesota, Brodney Pool and Sean Jones are both completely unproven.........i really thought the second round pick we traded for to get sean jones was a terrible decesion, especially with some of the talent still available there

id like to see cromartie in the second maybe, whitner or bing in the 3rd possibly...theres a lot of talent to be had int his draft thats for sure

Bodden played pretty well last season if you ask me, but McCutcheon isnt worthy of being a starter. Russell is probably in the top 2 of worst players on our defense, he definantly needs to go. To put it simply, they need to draft a playmaker.

Anyone remember the Browns game agianst Pittsburgh in Cleveland? Polamalu came on a blitz, and we successfully picked it up and blocked him, but he ended up somehow rolling into the ball-carrier, and tackling him.

Whens the last time you saw a Browns defender make a play like that?

I see the Browns biggest needs as NT, OLB, ILB, LT, and DE. In that order. I'm not 100% sold on Ngata, and frankly, the hole at NT is SO BIG that I expect them to have it solved in free agency (be it a stop gap like Grady Jackson, or a young guy like Ma'ake Kemoeatu), and they can either not grab a NT, or wait and grab one to develop (like the guy from Stanford).

Really, I think that the draft depends so highly on their free agency. They could realistically fill all of their major holes and just take BPA, like Vernon Davis, TE from Maryland or Jimmy Williams, CB, Virginia Tech. They may not have to draft for need. If they do end up taking one of the above positions, I really like Mario Williams. I doubt he's there, but if he is, I like him almost as much as Hawk. It'll be fun, because our draft is going to be hard to predict.

Well, of course free agency will change who I'd like to see drafted. If we get a solid nose tackle, then Ngata won't be a need. But right now, with the team we have, stopping the run should be the first priority.

Also, at the twelve spot, we may just select the best player available. With how bad the Brown's defense is, whoever we select will probably be starting by the end of the year. I'd love Jimmy Williams as well. The kid's a stud.

The Brown's need help all over on defense. Unfortunately, whoever they select with their first pick can only fix one of those needs. If they pick up a nose tackle and a pass rusher in free agency, then mabye the draft a defensive back or an offensive tackle.

I'm a big proponent of always taking BPA. I just don't feel that you can draft someone based on a need and expect them to come in right away and fill that need. The NFL is so complex and many first rounders drafted that high hold out for at least a few days, that it makes it very difficult to get them up to NFL speed by the time you need them to fill that hole. Taking BPA, regardless of need, forces the rookie and the veteran to compete for PT, and you end up with a better product. What I don't want is a QB drafted on the first day, if at all. That's the only objection that I would have with any pick, before I actually get to see what kind of production we can get out of the guy.

If Lawson has the speed for OLB, I'd be thrilled to see them call his name. Otherwise, there are so many positions on this team that need improvement, I really can't say just one. I really like Jimmy Williams out of VaTech, but I think we have more pressing needs in the front seven and on the offensive line. Maybe Carp will blow people away with his workouts and shoot up into a mid first round type. Its happened before...though I'd hate to see one of my favorite Buckeyes have that Browns first round "curse" hanging over his head.:(

I thought you guys knew more about him, along with those hops, he sports a TRUE 4.45 40-yard dash. Even the starting corner on that NC State defense said that he is actually the fastest player on that defense, as a DE!

Looking at him as strickly an OLB, pass-rushing specialist.

I don't want Lawson. The last thing this team needs is another undisciplined project OLB. (See Chaun Thompson).

They should to take a big DLinemen if available. If not, this is a deep draft for solid proven linebackers like Sims, Ryans, or Greenway. I do like CG. He's an excellent tackler, and he seems like he is willing to learn, listen, and play his role (ala Vrabel).

Jimmy Williams is also an intriguing prospect, but I don't think CB is a desperate need right now. Obviously, we would like to upgrade from McCutcheon and Bodden, but it's not a necessity right now. If they expect him to play safety, and Savage scouts him well at that position, then I think he could be a good pickup. But, otherwise, they should look safety in the third or fourth round and try to pick up a sleeper. (Donte... cough ... Whitner).

While Jimmy Williams would most definitely be an upgrade at cornerback, our needs are more pressing elsewhere. Teams didn't throw on us because they didn't need to, they just ran down our throats. If we draft Williams, teams still won't pass on us because they'll continue to shove down our throats.

That being said, if Ngata is gone, and there aren't any pass rushers, linebackers, offensive tackles, or runningbacks left that are worth the twelfth pick, then I would not be upset with Williams.

I think the Browns need to get a NT as a free agent since I don't thing you can get a good NT for a 3-4 out of college. They have to develop with a few years in the league. I would like to see the Browns draft the best player that can play DE in a 3-4. That would be a quick DT or big DE. If there is a sure thing LT available I would be ok with that as well. If they draft Greenway I will be almost as pissed as I was when the drafted Winslow. I would rather them reach for Carp at #12 than pick any other LB. A shutdown CB wouldn't be bad either. I really hope that most of the teams under rate Carp and he is there for the Browns in the second even though that's doubtful. I'm also hoping Kudla is there in the 3rd, more likely. If Carp isn't an option in the 2nd Whitner would be a good choice. He has all the tools to be a great playmaking safety and is from Cleveland so the Browns fans would love him. I will be upset if the Browns don't have at least 3 new Buckeyes in Training camp this summer.
