They need a bunch of players for both sides of the ball...

They had most of those players before they were lost to injuries for the season. The two weakness not counting injuries were, I think, in the Defensive Backfield and possibly the O-Line. The vast majority of the interceptions were when he was forcing things because they had no other options, for instance, throwing a Javon Walker ball to a 5th string reciever. Walker might have had a 60-40 shot at catching it, probably a 75-25 at preventing an interception, what kind of chance does the backup have?

I think Favre could lead his teams to more wins with more talent around him... however I do not think they would compete for the NFC crown anytime soon.

Did Favre always go nuts on his lineman when they didn't block? I realize it's probably a lot worse than usual this year, but I didn't remember seeing happen as often as it does now.

If Favre's only options are to retire or play for the Packers he should retire. Now if he could go to Atlanta for a season and move Vick to Slash he might have a chance. Detriot wouldn't be a bad place to go as long as they could get a few OL to protect him.

The big key to the offensive is RB. Green was a threat running and receiving. Green Bay uses the screen pass more than any team in the NFL... once Green went down they lost that threat. Henderson can run the screen but he's not as fast and can't break it for more that 10 yards. Davenport runs well but he got hurt. That left Fisher and Gado. Gado came on... then he got hurt. Fisher is decent on the screen but he can't run between the tackles. Combine no running game, 5th string receivers and Favres style... yeah he's gonna have a ton of interceptions.

Who would you rather have at QB in the NFC North.... Culpepper, Brad Johnson, Harrington, Garcia, Grossman, Orton or Favre. I'd still go with Favre 10 times out of 10.

I'll take Orton

my argument was that they wouldn't be near the top of the NFC even with healthy players... however considering how weak the North is they could be near the top of that conference.

In an interview a couple of days ago, Favre said he's very much torn about returning next year. He didn't want to come back only to find it has turned into a job, but also doesn't want to risk sitting on the couch watching the second game of the series and realizing he's made a tremendous mistake.

He mentioned several times that there are no guarantees for next year, creating a very strong impression that he just doesn't think he'll have sufficient tools to do what he wants to do next year. Said it's not in his nature not to take risks and try to make something happen when he feels it is necessary, that it was frustrating being told not to push things all year, and that he expects to hear the same thing next year, and it will be just as tough.

I hope he stays, but he didn't sound like he's very excited about the idea.

I use to like watching Favre play but he is finished I don't care what anybody says. Yes injuries have killed this team - Javon Walker, Bubba Franks, and 4 RB's have been injured (Driver and Chatman have been banged up also) but that doesn't excuse Favre of his play. Favre was never the greatest decision maker or had the best accuracy and now he is off the charts on how bad his decision making and accuracy has been this season. He has made some of the most ridiculous and boneheaded plays I have ever seen. Favre's decision making is near the bottom of the NFL. He made some plays like this before but he had the physical ability and talent around him to overcome these mistakes over a 16 game season. To go along with his mistakes he doesn't have the physical abilities anymore to dominate a game. Favre's arm is definitely weaker. It was funny listening to sportcasters in early October making all these excuses for Favre. The only person that really questioned his play was Michael Irvin. That was about the only time I agreed with him.

At this point of time I take Culpepper, Johnson, Grossman, and Orton over Favre. Favre is not going to lead a team to the playoffs let alone the Super Bowl. Favre has zero potential right now with is play this season and is getting worse. Injuries do not make a QB throw 28 INT's. Culpepper still has the ability. Johnson is a proven starting QB in the league and is outplaying Favre. At least with Grossman and Orton I can see what I have and make a decision on this two. Aaron Rodgers should at least come in the 2nd series of the last game to keep the precious Favre streak alive. It is time for the Packers to develop for the future. Rodgers give the Packers a better long-term chance to win in the future. As long as Favre is starting, the Packers have 0% chance of making the Super Bowl. At least with Rodgers he has the potential and room for improvement.

Did you read my post? Johnson is having a better season and Culpepper's didn't play well but he will only be 29 after this season. Grossman and Orton would be better off playing instead of sitting the bench if they played for the Packers because the Packers have a no chance of doing anything as along as Favre starting. Developing a younger QB is better for the Packers in the long term. Injuries don't excuse Favre for his horrible decisions.

They do when you're forced to make plays happen with sub-par talent. Take away James and Harrison from Manning for a full season and see how many INT's he throws. Culpepper didn't exactly look like himself with no Moss out there either. I'm sure we could come up with a long list of QB's that weren't themselves when they lost the talent around them.
