yeah... looks like he's defiantly leaning toward retirement.... but who really knows with him.

From friends of mine in Green Bay it sounds like nobody is thrilled with the choice they made for head coach... that may include Brett... I wonder if that's contributing to his decision?

I think one of the articles said he met with the new HC last week, didn't say what the outcome was though. Problem as I see it is that we have no alternative at QB right now. May have to draft someone like Whitehurst out of Clemson if Leinhart and Young are gone. I'd say Brett's decision weighs heavily on this draft.

I think they want to give him some time, however, like LoKy said, he obviously isn't ready for a starters role yet. Craig Nall is a career back-up, so far anyway. I really don't know where they go for a starter if Favre hangs it up. Actually, I was in hopes he evaluated that situation and based on it would play another year or two. I'm not real sure he really got along well with the young kid, (Rodgers).

They said the new HC was really high on Rodgers in the draft last year. I guess he wanted him in SF at #1, but was overruled. That might be a reason they hired him + he has coached Favre in the past. I would hate to see Favre play for anyone, but the Packers, but IMO if he wants to play this season he should look elsewhere. The Packers aren't going anywhere for a while while they rebuild and Favre want to win now.

Just listened to that interview, and I can't remember an interview with a professional athlete where the subject looked and sounded more worn out than Brett just did. He's tired.

I can see him resting over the off season and saying "Ok, one more year". And can also see him calling a presser after the Pro Bowl to announce that he is indeed hanging them up and has no regrets in doing so,

Favre has been a warrior for a long time. Easily the toughest guy to ever play quarterback in the NFL.

If this it, Happy Trails, Brett Favre. Don't be a stranger.

I thought Rodgers had more potential than Alex Smith did going into the draft...

I remember reading somewhere that Rodgers could kneel at the 50 yard line and throw it through the goal posts.

That armstrength combined with the great decision making he made at Cal seems like a great Pro prospect...

I would think they would go after some sort of vet. I don't think they would have given up on Rodgers totallly yet. That would be a pretty high picked to totally give up on him already without even giving him a shot.

As a Steeler fan I have an idea for them. A former 1st round Pac10 QB with plenty of experience, first name Tommy.

Quarterback may be forced to make decision on future by March 8

Brett Favre may be forced to make a decision on his future in football within the next week. For now, however, he is still unsure of what he wants to do – play another season or retire from football.

"I wish I would wake up and know," Favre said in an ESPN interview on Tuesday. "I was telling my mom several days ago when she was asking me the same question - 'You know, when are you going to make up your mind?' - I wish I would wake up and say, 'What have you been waiting on? It's a clear-cut decision.'

"I mean, there's more things involved. I love to play the game but I want to compete at a high level. I'd like to know our team is going to compete at a high level. Just kind of ... you know, gut instinct hasn't told me anything yet."

Favre, 36, is due a $3 million roster bonus on March 8. Favre’s agent, Bus Cook, told reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine that his client might consider pushing back the due date for the roster bonus to give himself more time to think about whether he wants to return for a 16th NFL season. But the Packers might not be willing to move the date, wanting instead for Favre to make up his mind.

"In some ways, I'm kind of waiting to see what we do free agent-wise and in the draft and those things," Favre said in Homestead, Fla., where he was taking NASCAR driving lessons. "And they're probably kind of waiting on me, too. So it's a little bit of a waiting game. Right now, I'm just trying to get away from it as much as I can and clear my mind, as hard as that may be."

The free-agency period is scheduled to begin Friday, although the uncertainty in negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and the players association could delay it. However, the league said it would not extend Friday's deadline after talks stalled with the NFLPA Tuesday.

The draft, in which the Packers hold the No. 5 overall pick, is April 29 and 30.

Favre is coming off his worst season as a pro. He was intercepted a career-high 29 times and finished with a career-low passer rating of 70.9.

Hold told a Milwaukee television station this week that he has no desire to play for another team.

“It doesn’t even cross my mind,” Favre said. “I just can’t envision myself playing anywhere else.”
