Like DE and coastal I'm also a big Packer fan. I can't really say anything that hasn't been said. Should Favre hang it up... NO. Key injuries have killed them this year, no question about it. The guy hasn't missed a game since 1992... he's played through so much pain and adversity (his fathers death, his brother in laws death, his wife battle with cancer to name a few) he deserves everyones respect whether you're a fan of his or not.

IMHO, the key moment that cost Favre at least two more Super Bowl appearances is when they named Mike Sherman GM... for years the front office has failed to surround him with the talent that he deserves to play with. It seems like they were always missing a key piece on offense.... Green was having monster seasons yet they had NO great wide receiver.... Walker comes on strong and then Green starts to go down hill. They let two of the better guards in the NFL leave last season and got nothing for them.... the team needs to be run better... the fans deserve it.

Defense has been the same problem... they were always lacking key pieces to be a complete unit. When they had great safety's/corner backs... the linebackers sucked.... when they drafted for linebackers... the DLine sucked (that's a HUGE problem now). Barnett is a great LB and one of my favorites right now in the league but their corner backs SUCK.... they drafted Carrol (sp) over Chris Gamble and the kid just can't develop. The NFC has receivers that are tall and they go out and draft a 5'9" CB... :(

I like Favre as much as anybody but he's not done the Packers any favors by not being able to definitively tell them if he's going to retire. May be time to get Rodgers some PT soon.

Hell No... Rodgers is on the bench where he belongs... the kid was terrible in pre season has been in even worse in practice... If you put Rodgers in now he will end up like Ontario Smith (sp?).

Never have, never will understand this, "Player X should have retired by now," nonsense. Should have? According to whom? Last I checked, Favre was a grown man, complete (presumably) with a brain, dick and balls, and had the same rights and privileges as the rest of us. Plainly, he should retire whenever the hell he damn well pleases, whether that be tomorrow or thirty years from now. And that's not even taking into account that he's a living legend. He's as close to the Michael Jordan of football as you can really get. Hell, MJ's pathological retiring and un-retiring was a joke, but every one of his moves was his to make, and every team to which he returned was damn lucky to have him. Don't like the media licking Favre's ass 24/7? Hey, neither do I, but I can at least understand it. When Kurt Warner's pucker was the media's designated salt lick, or Jeff Garcia's, I was appalled. And where are they now? Fact is, Favre is a three-time league MVP. He's arguably the toughest quarterback to ever play the game. He's got a Super Bowl ring, and a pile of offensive records, and never needs to answer to anybody but himself and his family. Nobody else on the planet has reasonable cause to suggest that he should retire because he's "not that good anymore." You concerned for his health or safety? Fine, express it. But stop calling for the man's head.

Regarding "feeling bad" for the guy, there can't be too many players in the league right now with shittier luck than Favre. He graced this Packer team with his presence for another year, and they lose their top wideout, their top two backs, their return man, a starting linebacker, and god knows what else to injury. They lose games on 56-yard field goals, and have potential game-changing drives altered by drunk, inbred Cincinatti white trash. I guarantee you this - Favre doesn't want anyone's pity. Nevertheless, not feeling bad for a guy that lives and dies on the field having to spend the golden years of his career being thrashed week in and week out, just because he's going to go to the Hall of Fame...that's a little stupid. You think Favre gives a shit right now about going to the Hall of Fame? My guess is he'd trade that in in a heartbeat for another shot at a Super Bowl. If you just plain don't like the guy, that's cool too. Hell, I admire your ability to buck the trend.

Bottom line? The league is better with Brett Favre in it. I hope he plays until he wins another Super Bowl, because that's what he deserves.
Favre has the right to retire whenever he wants. And fans have the right to laugh at him when he stinks up the joint and humilates himself, which is what he does when he throws these passes 5 yards past the line of scrimmage. Deserve the super bowl? Why? His play in the playoffs the last years has been horrid. He deserves exactly what he's getting.
