The sooners recruit the same area too, so at best 5th, and having to fight off tcu/baylol/okie light. Bringing in bert to implement barry's wisc system wasn't a horrible idea, i just don't think bert can implement it even if he was able to sustain it in wisc.

In addition to the heavily increased recruiting competition, Burt was never that great at bringing in top talent to begin with. And without mercenary graduate transfers at QB, I can't recall him developing a single more than mediocre signal caller.

Arkansas was better off under Nutt. He was the ceiling there. Bert only had success at Wisconsin, because he followed Alvarez's blueprint. The guy has no sense of his own.

Berts biggest achievement was coaching at wisconsin during the worst 5 years in the history of the big ten. His smartest move was sticking around until the last possible moment he could have success in the big ten and finding the biggest paycheck available. at this point I think he is actually trying to get fired so he can sit back, collect his paycheck, and eat. The second smartest thing is if he got Jen to sign a prenup.

I'd say I could see the guy going all Hal Mumme or Dennis Erickson and ending up somewhere like New Mexico State or Idaho, but the reality is they paid him so much money he will never have to work again.
