Bret Bielema (HC Illinois)

I did like the ending of the season finale of "The Journey" on BTN. It was like somebody died.

They had a shot of Bielema and "On December 4th, Bret Bielema left to become head coach of the University of Arkansas."

Then faded to credits.

Saw it. Must be a good feeling, being on the field and in the locker room acting like you're excited to go to the Rose Bowl, knowing you have plans on selling them all out a couple days later.

"The Horseshoe. They built it. We own it."

Not sure if Bollinger was quoting Alvarez, but here's the story...

A year earlier, tension rose before the game because Wisconsin quarterback Brooks Bollinger had signed a photo for a Wisconsin fan living in Ohio. His inscription read: ?The Horseshoe ... They built it. We own it.?

BTN analysts said Bielema had a meeting with the players Tuesday morning where he got emotional. But they didn't say he told the players he was leaving at that meeting.

I still want to know if he told them via e-mail or text message (or maybe not at all).

Salaries have jumped pretty significantly. Obviously "Blank check" is a bit of hyperbole but he was given the budget necessary to hire a staff on par with any college coaching staff in the country and the immediate results on the field speak for themselves

:so:

JT worked very well within the budget he was given for a decade. I'm certain had he asked for me, he would have gotten it.

And it has very little to do with the rifle and pistol teams. Ohio State isn't Ped State, the athletic department doesn't revolve around the football team.

sounds vaguely reminiscent of Petrino with the Falcons; This ought to end well.

lmao. the football team is the reason that Ohio State can run 35 OTHER varsity sports. 8 home games x 105,000 people, x $70 each = $58.8 million.
so, yes, the entire athletic department revolves around the football team.

A person could go to Douche University, work hard for years and earn a bachelors, masters and PhD in Doucheology, then become a professional Douche, become licensed at the state, federal and international levels as a Certified Douche, read every book on being a Douche, take every class, become an international expert, practice being a Douche for 12 hours a day. Then that person walks into a room with BB, the person would be out Douched in 5 seconds. He is that Douchey.

The football team makes it easier to fund those sports, but let's not act like they wouldn't exist without the football team if the UNIVERSITY wanted them to exist.

Again, let's not act like a bunch of Ped State cultists here. Football isn't the be-all and end-all of the Athletic Department, nor should it be.

I fully support every athletic team that Ohio State puts out. I also realize that without the football team and the revenue generated by the football team, the other 35 sports would not be able to exist, even if the university wanted them to.

The University would have to drain funds away from the academic side to allow those teams to exist though if it wasn't for football.

I think you are kind of missing the point I was making though, I was addressing the original statement that assistants shouldn't be paid more money because the "university is about more then just football" which is suggesting that those salaries would take something away from other parts of the university. My argument is that our athletic department has proven to be successful enough to support enough excess in other areas that it can certainly support top notch salaries for football.

Saying your athletic department revolves around football isn't the Ped State way, that is a truth for most major athletic departments. The Ped State way is having your entire university and sense of morality revolve around what is best for the football team

What you said was having the rifle and pistol team meant the athletic department could pay football assistants more "point blank period". That is not the case.

You also claimed Meyer was working with a blank check, which we know to be false.

Tell me when you've figured out what you're trying to say - and yes what you're saying (and thankfully not what is occurring) is only a few short steps away from the mania that follows the Ped Staters.
