No surprise there. Although, kind of surprised to see Hope up there too.

I don't think it's Danny Hope; it's the fact that it's Purdue. If you follow the link some select player quotes are included:

On Ferentz: "He's a Type A personality and I'm a Type B."

On Meyer: "It seems like it's all about him."

On Wilson: "He seems a little animated, to say the least."

On Hope: "I really wouldn't want to play there."

On Pelini: "He's a screamer."

The Pelini one cracks me up.

It appears that the starting QB position goes to the transfer (again):

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Bielema-names-OBrien-the-starting-QB-at-Wisconsin.html

Wisconsin head coach Bret Bielema announced on Twitter Sunday that Danny O'Brien will be the starting quarterback for the team's opener September 1 against Northern Iowa.
As I wrote earlier Sunday, the former Maryland starter has fit very well into Matt Canada's offense in Madison, so the news was expected that O'Brien would win the job.
O'Brien reportedly had a strong week in preseason camp, and he has looked sharp overall since his arrival. He beat out senior Curt Phillips and redshirt freshman Joel Stave for the starting job.
"Both Curt and Joel had great camps as well, we are very fortunate that we have 3 QB's that can play winning football for us," Bielema tweeted.
cont.

I can't help but believe that this will affect his attempts at recruiting for the position. But then again, maybe he realizes that he sucks at recruiting a QB and has decided to forego.

When the gold standard of great quarterbacking in your schools entire history is Brooks Bollinger or Darrell Bevell, it's not possible to make the position any less attractive.

It's not like 5-stars were beating down the door to get to Wisconsin before Bret decided to start grad-transfers two years in a row.

QFT. Very true.

If I was a potential QB recruit I don't know how I could consider going to Wisconsin. I mean, if there's going to be a transfer in every year...

What kind of message does it send to recruits when you keep bringing in "free agent" QBs? Will he start bringing in "free agent" DBs to take your place on the depth chart? "Free agent" offensive tackles?

Not really surprised with the O'Brien announcement, but who is? Admittedly, their depth at the position is not good to say the least. Their other options would've been Curt Phillips (knees are shot), Joe Brennan (transferring to an FCS school), or Joel Stave (a former walk-on that's on scholarship now that Brennan's leaving). The position should be bolstered in the next few years with incoming recruits Bart Houston and Chance Stewart.

Regardless, it's never been a position of strength at Wisconsin. Hell, they went 11-2 with Scott freaking Tolzien at the helm. The strength has been and always will be the O-line and backfield, as well as what should be a pretty solid defense this year. If O'Brien can even turn in a season similar to Tolzien's in 2010, they should be in good shape.
