Bret Bielema (HC Illinois)

As you age, it is really a lot easier to put it on than take it off. In the last 18 months, I put on 12 kgs (26lbs). There is a lot that this guy could do with the resources at hand. I have lost 6kgs in three weeks on a structured program and riding on indoor bikes with the Zwift app. If I can do it at my age, then this man can do it at his.

I've lost 53 pounds since September, mostly due to a change in diet. He just needs to say enough is enough and do it.

Why would he? He makes millions of dollars and has a good looking wife who lets him wallow on her until(his) climax about once a month. Every time he accepts a HC gig, the new school lays out a smorgasbord for free

So what is the key for Beliema as he looks to turn around a Fighting Illini program that went a mere 2-6 in 2020? The first-year Illinois head coach joined Big Ten Network on Wednesday afternoon as part of National Signing Day coverage to discuss his vision at the program, to which Bielema said it starts with winning over the in-state recruits.

"We got to start building here in the state of Illinois and put a barrier around us," Bielema said. "We have other schools in our state, but this has got to be a school that Illinois kids want to come to -- the one to come win Big Ten Championships. It starts there and we'll branch out from everywhere else."

Granted, rebuilding the program isn't an overnight journey. The team finalized a 2021 recruiting class on Wednesday that ranks 74th overall -- last in the Big Ten -- per the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings, but Bielema is optimistic that his roots to the state will help flip the script on the recruiting trail as the focus now turns to the 2022 class and beyond. Bielema's pitch to recruits has already been nailed down, as he revealed on the network.

"It's been an easy sell," Bielema said when asked about his recruiting pitch. "I from the state ... I know the lay of this land. I've been in this conference as a player, assistant coach, coordinator and head coach. It's been a really easy thing for me to tell them 'listen, come here and be a part of the plan. Get yourself better every day, and you'll be rewarded for a lifetime.'"
