Brady "XLLL" Hoke (Head Coach San Diego State)

So do you think he'll ever think it might be a good idea to listen in on what his coordinators are saying? Surely they can mute his headset, or just give him one without a microphone. Maybe he'll actually learn something about what goes on during the games.

Donut Boy just does not have good in game instincts. His going for the TD instead of the FG was another in a line of very questionable in game decisions. He was saved by the last in a long line of missed interceptions by the NW LB and the decision by the NW defensive staff to only rush 3 on the second to last play in regulation when every defense in the country knows that Gardner can only complete a pass when he is not pressured.

DickRod's record:
2008 - 3-9 (2-6)
2009 - 5-7 (1-7)
2010 - 7-6 (3-5) lost Gator Bowl

Hoke's record:
2011 - 11-2 (6-2) won Sugar Bowl
2012 - 8-5 (6-2) lost Outback Bowl
2013 - 7-3 (3-3)

Just an observation...DickRod started with no talent (Carr left the cupbard bare) and actually improved each year. They fired his ass after three years. Hoke started with some talent left over from DickRod and has been going down hill for three years now. There is no talk of firing him.

Borges will be given near free reign to design that offense the way he sees fit. He has extensive experience as being an OC for UCLA, Indiana, Auburn, California and Oregon. He prefers a pro-style attack alternating between a big line-up with variations of the I formation, a single backfield 3 WR set (Dee Hart would have been a solid RB prospect in this regards), and then will often run a 5 WR set empty backfield (perfect for the plethora of 5-9 recievers hahaha!). I think its obvious that Devin Gardner is the preferred QB for the job. From his most recent examples at SDSU, Borges prefers to attack downfield with larger framed receivers so he'll have to scheme with the Wolverines to find a few receivers in their collection that play with "size" because he won't find a Braylon Edwards on the roster for a long time.

Borges was coordinator UCLA when they went to the Rose Bowl in the '98 season (~40 ppg), he coordinated Auburn's 2004 13-0 season with Campbell. There is a lot to be concerned with in regards to Borges success.

Borges has developed multiple NFL prospects at QB when he was coordinator at UCLA, Auburn, and now SDSU. Cade McNown, Jason Campbell and Ryan Lindley (rated as a mid-round QB talent from most sources I've read). I think that Borges will emphasize yards per passing attempt to complement the running game; he is a throw it deep coordinator but is smart enough to scheme for what the defense will give him. I don't think you'll see an inordinately high completion percentage from a Borges-led QB unless Gardner just doesn't prove to have the arm strength to launch it downfield. Ryan Mallett would have loved this scheme (not that Mallett didn't enjoy the Razorbacks, just making a comparison).

Ideally, the offense will be able to attack quickly with the passing game, but would prefer to churn out drives with a powerful running game to set-up the play action pass. I'm thinking an accurate NFL comparison would be the Atlanta Falcons. Borges is the most important hire to forge lasting success in the Hoke transition.

I am of the opinion that, like Gus Malzahn to Gene Chizik, Al Borges will be the name Buckeyes actually fear, Hoke is merely the face to the program.

Diego my friend, no offense but Holeeee Sheeeeite did you swing and miss on this one.

We've all been there, if you are going to miss, miss big.

1. Hoke won a BCS bowl game. Nevermind that the winner of that game (vs. Virginia Tech) would be the 3rd worst participant in a BCS bowl game in the history of BCS bowls, with the loser becoming the 2nd worst participant. (The worst participant, in my opinion, was 2004 Pitt, at 8-4.) Right or wrong, winning a BCS bowl game gets him his 4th year.

2. By firing him, Michigan had to admit that they were wrong about the Rich Rod hire. Admitting they are wrong goes against every fiber of being that Michigan instills in their own kind. By admitting that they made the wrong hire, they were telling the world that they are not true Michigan men. And, as we all know, being a "true Michigan man" is really the greatest accomplishment that Michigan men can have. They felt that they had to make the next hire the "right" one. To you and me, "right" means one thing. To Michigan, it means something else. Through the end of this year, through the offseason, and at least through half of next year, Brady Hoke will remain the "right" guy. They'll contort their belief system to no end to define what is "right" before they admit that they were wrong to support him. Anyone who thinks Hoke should be fired is either A) not a true Michigan man, or B) realistic.

I think he needs to win 10 games next year to keep his job. 9 and he's gone.

Here is their 2014 schedule. They avoid Iowa, Nebraska, Wisky, Purdue & Illinois. Does Armanti Edwards have any eligibility left?
