Brady Quinn (Fox CFB Analyst)

I cannot bemoan the fact that BQ and his agent are trying to get the most possible out of the Browns. I assume that any of us would do the same.

With that said there does reach a point of coming to grips with reality. The reality is that BQ was not a Top 10 pick in the draft. He was picked at 22 and the Browns offer has guaranteed money that is higher than a 22 pick.

As a Browns fan, I want his ass in camp last week. As a Browns fan, I want him to accept the fact that he was picked at 22, sign the deal that comes with that, and get into camp and compete. As a Browns fan, I would like to see BQ accept the incentives/escalators if/when he becomes the starter during the lifetime of the contract. Accept the Browns position of being ALL-Pro kicks in the last escalator, because as a Browns fan, that tells me that BQ would accept the challenge, believe in his abilities, and is willing to work hard to earn even more money. I don't speak for all Browns' fans, but many Browns fans have a similar blue-collar type work ethic...that is, to reap the max in a contract, one has to work hard and achieve the highest standard.

So far, this Browns fan sides believes that much of his "grew up a Browns fan, dream to be a Brown, blah, blah, blah" talk that came before and after the draft were great words. Words are cheap...anyone can spew them. His actions to date don't jive with his words.

I agree with what Napoleonbuck and buckiprof have said. I just don't think that he gets booed when he eventually makes his debut. As a Browns fan, I want his ass in camp too. Sports fans tend to have a short memory if a player succeeds. When he comes in a game, in relief of a struggling QB, he will be cheered. I just hope that if he gets in a game due to injury that Cleveland fans won't be cheering the injury and have to make up some b.s. excuse about actually cheering BQ.

The memory of when the "fans" cheered when Tim Couch went down is still too fresh in my mind. I have a feeling that the cheering you hear will either be for taking out Frye, or cheering for the fact that Frye gets hurt.

Maybe he has but I just checked 3 sites and haven't found anything but them saying they have made progress. Do you have a link to where it was found?

I was at a sports bar forum, some people in the Cleveland Forum was talking about Quinn and another guy jumped in and said Quinn agreed to the 7.5 mil and Cleveland lessened some incentive triggers this morning. Then he signed. I am looking for the real juice too ....

The Browns would be dumb to take what Quinn wants. His incentives shouldn't be based on starting, but rather playing well. If he has a top 10 QB rating in 2 of his first 3 years, or top 5 in one of the last two give it to him. Starting a certain number of games doesn't mean shit given the Browns current QB situation. If he wants Peyton Manning money he needs to play like Peyton Manning. I dislike BQ more and more every time I hear more about him.

NewsNet5.com has a report quoting Quinn as saying he is not asking for a ton of cash from the Browns.

They also have a survey asking if Quinn is worth the wait .... thus far the voting is Yes 14% - No - 86%

Tough town that city by the lake.

Best quote from the article a NewsNet5 sports anchor:

Gib Shanley, NewsChannel5's sports commentator, had a few words about the hold out during Sports Sunday.

"If you're a Brady confidant, you might tell him the Browns need a smart quarterback, not a strong one. Otto Graham, Frank Ryan, Brian Sipe and Bernie Kosar were smart. Unlike Quinn, they must have had smart advisors, too."

Many many Browns fans, outside of this board, were happy with getting Quinn. If/when he finally comes into a game, it will likely be to replace a struggling starter. He won't get booed. In fact, he will probably be cheered. As for the jump balls. I'd rather he throw up a jump ball for Braylon to go up and fight for, than hit him in stride only to have it dropped. Jump balls and difficult catches seem to be what Braylon and Winslow both excel at.
:slappy: yeah we need a shitty qb so our recievers can make plays? lol its true though :(

Not even close... there are violent individual collisions... but... not on every single play... How many Hockey players play into their late 30's and early 40's? (I don't know either... but... got to be way more than football.)
I hear you, and the reason why i'll contest you is we need a hockey players perspective.. my old roommate played hockey and watching hockey with him he sees little things and theres all kinds of punching, bowing, etc. constantly going on in every play that few notice.. but playing into the 40's is a good way to tell i suppose..

ESPN had a video fluff piece about Quinn buddying up with Larry Johnson in Tempe where they are both holding out on their respective contracts and pulling strings out of machines.

Johnson is giving Quinn counsel on getting the right first deal.

(Which is ironic as the only experiential information he has to offer is don't make a lousy damned deal - which is not what the Browns are offering).
