Brady Quinn (Fox CFB Analyst)

That speculation is probably fueled by the fact that his agent is Condon. There has been an ongoing power struggle in the agent business to get top clients. Last year he represented Matt L, from USC, and many felt he did a poor job "representing" his client. What that means, exactly, I have no idea. As soon as the Browns used next year's draft to secure him, the hold out talk started. As a Brown's fan, my biggest fear is that the Browns will give in to his demands. I'm not a Quinn supporter, but didn't feel too bad seeing him selected in the bottom of the round. The Browns aren't going to do much this year anyway, so there is no urgency,IMO, to sign this guy. If the guy bombs out in a couple of years, it won't cost the Browns a lot. But if the Browns cave in, they will set back the franchise even further. The Browns routinely overpay for players, so I'm concerned.

if he holds out he'll end up dicking himself over. cleveland will make a nice offer, but anything that is far in excess of what the #22 pick is slotted to make will come in the form of incentives and performance bonuses.

if he holds out for a long period of time, he isn't going to see the field for quite a while, and will end up losing any performance bonuses and incentives he could have gotten as a rookie.

King better get in there and give his boy some counseling, looks like he thinks he should get Top 5 pick pay:

From SI.COM

As for Brady Quinn, here's what the Browns aren't saying: They fear a holdout. The Notre Dame star was the 22nd pick. Browns GM Phil Savage and the Browns said several times that they ranked him among the top five players in the draft. No doubt, agent Tom Condon will mention that to the Browns in contract talks. Maybe there will be no holdout, but that will be only if the Browns decide to immediately pay Quinn far more than the projected pay for a 22nd pick. There is pressure on all NFL teams not to do that because it escalates rookie salaries for many other picks in the same area of the draft.

He's going to try to hold a GM to what he said pre-draft? Right....nobody lies there. They usually run right to the papers and tell exactly what they're going to do on draft day to give everybody else a heads up.

I don't mind giving Quinn a contract that is worth #10 money as long as his base starts at #22 and the incentives aren't easy to reach. Bump him up 2 spots in the draft for each of these goals and you have a winner.

- team wins 10+ games
- Quinn starts 14+ games
- top 10 QB rating
- top 5 QB rating
- top 10 passing game + >10 starts
- top 10 running game + >10 starts
- Pro Bowl

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!

Exactly what I was saying earlier. I wish more rookie contracts would be incentive based.
