BP Vacation Thread: What To Do Where You're Going

Looking for recommendations/reviews for a beach destination to plan a family summer vacation within reasonable driving distance... We have done Florida 30A (love it) the past few years but missed out on our preferred bungalow for 2016, so looking for fall back options.

Anybody been to Tybee Island? Outer Banks in the summer? Virginia, South Carolina, even New York?

Tybee Island, Savannah, Dafuskie Island, Hilton Head area is nice, but will be humid as hell in the summer.

Lots of Golf and Tennis, plenty of nature trails. Hilton Head Zip Line is fun. If you are so inclined, you can go to Paris Island and maybe catch a graduation which is cool to watch.

Can give you some recommendations on eating and whatnot if you go that route for your vacation.

Thanks for the info. Hot and humid is ok (30A was like 95 degrees last August) - that's what the water is for! Seems like Hilton Head has a ton of options: do you have any suggestions on which part of the island to look at for family accommodations?

Have a wedding that my wife is a brides maid in up on the WV/MD border in October (Friday wedding, thankfully!), so we're flying into BWI, and I'd like to maybe spend some time exploring Baltimore if I have a chance, but more importantly would really like to take a few days after the wedding to visit DC. Any recommendations of spots to photograph the Inner Harbor or interesting architecture in the immediate downtown area? Also, any suggestions on DC hotels? As much as I'd love to stay at a place within walking distance of the Mall, I'm expecting them to be out of my budget range, so I've been looking at the area out towards College Park and just using the Metro. Also would obviously like to take some time and explore Maryland's campus. Was hoping that was the weekend the Buckeyes played at MD, but it isn't.

We do Marriott Vacation Club when on HHI. For a resort that is set up with kids in mind, either Surf Watch, Grande Ocean or The Barony.

If you decide to go, definitely hit Kenny B's for a Sunday Brunch Buffet and go to Mangiamo! for pizza one night.

What town because that's a long border.

Wife got confused when I asked her earlier, her friend lives on the border near Shepherd University, but the wedding is near Havre de Grace on the other side of the state. Still really just care about Baltimore stuff and DC hotels.

Oh, and Buckeye friendly bars in the area to watch the game on Saturday, possibly.

Ha! Havre Disgrace is more like it -- they let all sorts of swine live there. Am I right @MD Buckeye, or am I right?

The Inner Harbor is a pretty neat spot, but I wouldn't stray too far from that main area. The Aquarium is world class and definitely worth a trip if you are into that sort of thing. Ft McHenry is supposed to be a pretty cool spot, although I confess I never made it there in the 5 years I lived near Baltimore. That's all I've got....been too long since I've been back there.

I'll definitely take a look at the aquarium, as I am definitely into that. Probably will try to do the Inner Harbor exploring the day the wife is at the rehearsal, depending on when we fly in, as she doesn't really care about Baltimore. All she wants to see is Bei Bei the new Panda cub at the National Zoo.
