Surgery was a no go today. Tried for a long time to get the temporary filter in place, but apparently, according to the surgeon, her anatomy is "very strange" (always fucking awesome to hear THAT from a doctor) and they couldn't ever get it to a point beyond the clot. So she takes the anti-coagulants and hopes that the body takes care of it on its own.
Considering she can't put any weight on her left leg at this point, this is going to be a long, long recovery process. Much worse than the hip replacement recovery. And there's a 50/50 chance she's going to forever have swelling and pooling issues anytime she's in a car or plane or just standing for more than an hour or two.
I'm in all out "fuck it all" mode. Sell everything, buy a fast car, and take a Thelma and Louise swandive off of the Grand Canyon. (mostly just kidding there). Not scared anymore, just thoroughly depressed and resigned to our lives as they are going to be for however long it may be.
Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers over the last couple weeks.
