BP Fantasy Baseball (2008-2024, Current Champion = MD Buckeye again)

The difference is that before the season, the last memory of Villar on the baseball diamond was a man who had done a pretty good Rickey Henderson impersonation the prior year with the combination of speed and power that he showed. Hard to trade the thought of a repeat of that performance. Unfortunately this season, the only running Villar is doing is running to the dugout railing to bend over for the opposing pitcher. But it has taken two months to figure that out, and he can turn things around. But this is a good lesson in track records. If you have a long track record, it is easier to sell yourself on taking that player in the draft of picking up off of waivers. It can be a delicate balance between track record and potential on your team. If you have that balance, playoffs here you come. If you don't, well then you will be asking "When does football start?"

The flip side of that is the fading star. Sure, he's been great for years but at some point he's going to start looking very average (or worse). That's a guy like Bautista. Whether this is the year he falls off is still up in the air as he's run hot and cold, but he's always been a bit streaky. Cabrera and Pujols are a couple others - their day will come, but is it this year? Next year? Three years from now?

Here is a new category:

Worthless real world teammates on the same fantasy team

I nominate Carlos Gonzales and Ian Desmond (useless bags of monkey spunk that they are)

Rick Porcello and Xander Bogaerts

Porcello preseason rank - 102 current rank - 665

Bogaerts preseason rank - 20 current rank - 120

Bogaerts is somewhat starting to heat up, but he's been a massive disappointment so far considering his top 20 preseason ranking. Porcello is just a worthless donkeys ass

Going for a record tonight:

Can 4 guys go 0/16 in Coors field in the same game?

I've got a Kipnis, Santana, CarGo and Desmond that say "yes, si, si and yes"

They are all a waste of a lot of things, now it's altitude.

Hey....at least they are wasting less oxygen at that altitude. Silver linings.

That twatwaffle Desmond bitched out and isn't playing (again) which really isn't that different than his usual no-show with a bat in his hand.

so it's 0/12 for the other 3 twinks

Carlos Santana at least doesn't make an out which is about the best I can hope for from his useless bloated non hitting ass

6 hits and 6 total bases so far
