World Series: Twice as nice for Sox
Boston earns second Series title in four years
Monday, October 29, 2007 3:43 AM
By Ben Walker

Associated press

DENVER -- Gone are those pleading, pathetic days when the Boston Red Sox were practically begging to win a World Series. There's a new monster in baseball, and it's in Boston.
Overwhelming in every way, the Red Sox swept to their second title in four years last night. Jon Lester, Mike Lowell and the rest of the Red Sox left little room for drama with a 4-3 win over the Colorado Rockies in Game 4.
Then again, no National League team could have blocked Boston this October.
"This team has got a lot of heart," Red Sox captain Jason Varitek said. "We worked really hard. We just beat a very, very good team, an excellent team. We had to do the little things."

World Series
Rockies' playoff run ends with dull thud

Monday, October 29, 2007 3:45 AM

Associated Press

DENVER -- The Colorado Rockies played their best baseball when it was do-or-die.
Not on this night.
Needing to recapture some of the wizardry that got them here, Todd Helton and the Rockies bowed out of October with a whimper, losing 4-3 last night to the Red Sox, who swept their second World Series in four years.
Garrett Atkins gave Colorado hope with a two-run homer in the eighth inning that made it a one-run game, but like every other rally the Rockies managed in this Series, it was just a tease.

Must have been a Cleveland station... because they're becoming America's team aka The Good Guys

They were America's Team in 2004. But America loves a true underdog, or at least a media spoon-fed underdog... so the Cubs right now are America's Team...

Most people I know are tired of the Red Sox, much like sports fans usually get tired of good teams - but especially of the Red Sox, because we had this Bambino Curse shoved down our throats for so many years.

What a great series! The rookies were amazing, and you can't get much better than a cancer survivor winning Game 4 and another cancer survivor being named MVP (hey Red Sox front office, re-sign him now!). I love this team!

Awesome I'm real proud of BoSox nation.

What I didn't care for was how A-Rod tried to start smack on Game 4 of the WS saying he is opting out of NY. Sushi is it possible for boston to afford A-Rod and to see Mike L go if they don't re-sign him. A-Rod wants a Championship.

That pissed me off too. Typical Fox crap. Shut up about A-Rod until after the game!

I really hope Boston doesn't sign A-Rod. I want Lowell back! We have a great team chemistry right now. However, we are one of the few teams that can afford him, and the Boston media is saying that we could definitely be a player. I wish he would have stayed with the Yankees!

Great call on the sweep, CCI! When I saw you post that the first time, I thought you were crazy! :)

Merry fucking Christmas, Red Socks nation.

Your guys played lights out. The Rockies were most definately outplayed. We're still proud of our team and look forward to achieving our next goal, winning a World Series game. :ohwell:
