Boston Celtics (18x NBA champions)

Celtics come back from 0-2 to eliminate the Bulls, 4-2. :gagnam:

The Wizards are next, the first Boston-Washington series since 1982 and shades of the 70s battles when both teams won titles.

Kelly Olynyk really needs his fat ugly face caved in by someone. Has to be one of the dirtiest players in the NBA. The league better do something before he goes Love on someone else. If I were the league I'd suspend him and Oubre for a game and let that tall fucker know that he'll get an extra game suspension every time he remotely looks like he's trying to injure another player.

no playoffs, to 8 seed, to 4 seed, to 1 seed. Stevens is turning out to be a great hire.

Now it's time to actually advance in the playoffs. I'm under no delusions. I know the best team in the East is still in Cleveland, but that doesn't take away from what the Celtics have done to become competitive again. I just hope to get a shot at the Cavs in the Eastern finals. That's a lie, I'd rather play a team who upset the Cavs, but the point is Boston getting there would fully validate the improvement. Anything beyond that would be gravy.

Celtics advance to the conference finals, where I'm not sure they'll even win a game. But as I said, anything else is gravy now.

 He had the game of his life tonight...here's to seeing his caveman ass riding the pine with 5 fouls and 3 points in the real series

Draymond Green calls Kelly dirty, that's some high praise.

“That was crazy. Kelly Oubre got suspended for Kelly Olynyk flopping. That man took a charge on a push. Like, come on bro. Kelly Oubre hit Monty McCutcheon harder than he hit Olynyk! … And Kelly Olynyk is a dirty player man. You do little stuff dirty and then you want to take a charge. Oubre ain’t hit him that hard and he shouldn’t have been suspended. You already kicked him out the game, so essentially he’s getting game and a half suspension for that?…

“[Oubre came at him] rightfully so, though. Olynyk caught him in the face or neck with a couple of elbows. And that’s what I don’t understand. You let people get away with stuff and then finally when somebody react you penalize that guy. But you’re not going to penalize him for continuing to elbow this guy in the face? I don’t get that. He’s dirty. Dirty player. I don’t respect guys like that. I know he’s not like the greatest basketball player of all time so maybe he feel like he’s gotta like do that. Just dirty. I don’t respect that, man. He’s dirty.”

Boston has quite the predicament here....#1 pick, what to do, what to do....

If they wanted to play the long game and wait Lebron out, they could keep the #1 pick or trade it to Sacramento and get the #5, #10 and probably something more.

Or, go for it now.....they don't need to be younger, and they don't need any more guards which is the top guys in it. Trade would be the best option and Jimmy Butler, Paul George, Gordon Hayward all get mentioned. Don't think Butler is a fit, but George would be - Hayward would have his old coach back.

If it were me, I'd trade the #1 to NY and hope to get Porzingis. I'd even offer the #1 and Jaylen Brown to get Porzingis.

No offense, but I'm glad you're not running the Celtics. I'm not interested in trading for guys who will be free agents in 2 years. I'm also not giving up Jaylen Brown AND the #1 overall pick for Porzingis.

The only exception I'd consider for the above is if Hayward was willing to sign an extension. George wants to go to LA, and I doubt they could keep Butler either. Then again, they could draft the BPA and make a run at Hayward in 2 years.

Playing in the conference finals and sitting on the #1 overall pick is a "predicament" a lot of teams would like to have right now.

As to the last part, I mean it's not a great prize. They made it to the ECF's, but the reality is they are light years away from actual contention. I don't think anyone thinks Fultz is all of a sudden going to be the missing piece. The Celtics were down by 25 at home in Game 1......they have a predicament.

The idea of trading for Porzingis is the expectation you can sign him long term - a great environment to play in, great fans, a great coach, a winning club, it'd be hard for him to leave that after playing with the Knicks.

And I'd gladly trade the #1 and Brown for Porzingis - what is Brown's ceiling? I don't think you can even say All Star. And Fultz is a risk, but no one is considering him to be a Dwyane Wade type. Kristaps gives them the size they desperately need, pairs perfectly with Horford, and helps you win now and there is no risk over whether or not he's an All Star. Fultz is a gamble, Kristaps is not.

This is the NBA - one great player > two good players

First off, you don't make trades based off one playoff game. The Penguins were down 4-0 halfway through the first period last night. Are they light years away, too? The Celtics have improved each year under Stevens. Stay the course.

Besides, if Kristaps is all that why the hell would NY trade him? The guy they want to trade is Melo and I wouldn't give them the last guy on the bench for him, at this point.

Colin Cowherd has a very interesting clip.. in which he says Boston should trade the pick
Rationale... almost all great players needed 4 years to hit stride... existing Boston roster will be decimated by then
says Horford will be done in 4 and IT also (that his body will not be able to withstand 4 more years of punishment)
says you need someone that can help the coming year and year after when Celts will be at peak

It wasn't based on one game - Boston is just nowhere near beating the Cavs right now, and Fultz won't change that.

And why NY would trade him.....come on, have you seen their GM? Phil Jackson has no idea what he's doing, he's senile and confused. If Kristaps told him he wasn't resigning, the Knicks are nowhere near contention, they'd be hard pressed to get a better package. Plus, New York with a #1 pick....Jackson would love the attention. Who knows, maybe if he was smart he could find a way to get Boston to take on Melo's contract too. With guys like Phil Jackson, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Vlade Divac....one thing is for sure, they'll do something stupid.

The Celtics are going to be the next best team in the East in 2-3 years. That stupid Nets trade all but assures it. The #1 pick this year and the Net's pick next year as well left on the deal. They might be able to give the Cavs a run for their money next year if they can sign Hayward who has been a Cav killer over the years. I don't know if IT is going to be worth the money that he is going to get so they might be better off moving him for a PF/C type like TT and use the picks to improve PG. IT is too much of a liability on defense against really good teams like the Cavs and Warriors. On the other hand it probably isn't the best idea to try to build a team for a matchup with the Cavs, but rather to put together the best mix of players that you can and make other teams adjust to you. I remember when the Cavs couldn't beat Howard and the Magic so they brought in Shaq and didn't even make the Eastern Finals the next year. The current mix seems to be an athletic big like TT or Draymond at the 5 so that's probably what the Celtics need. The thing is this is probably the last year they'll have cap space so they have to make their move on a FA now and hope he's young enough to have plenty of prime left once the Cavs drop off. On the other hand maybe Lebron continues to defy age until he's 40 and the Celtics never get past #2 before another young talented team rises up.
