Boston Celtics (18x NBA champions)

Danny Ainge raised some eyebrows with some of his moves post "big three" but Ray Allen is done, Garnett is nothing anymore and Pierce is a bit piece in Washington. Meanwhile, the Celtics are now a young team, Brad Stevens is transitioning well to the NBA, and they had one of the best records in the League after the AS break. The result? 40 wins and a playoff berth - neither were expected and both are accomplishments in 2014-15 (even in the East) - and some playoff experience versus the heavily-favored Cavs. Anything at this point is gravy. Having Sully & ET playing key roles on the team is just a plus for me.

After bottoming out at 25 wins in 2013-14, last season was a return to the playoffs and this season is a return to a winning record. Winning a first round playoff series would be the next logical step. The improvement has been steady but they're still not a legitimate contender. This summer the Celtics need to add a star or two, if possible.

"I like the city a lot,” Durant said, “It’s cold, but they love sports here. It’s a family atmosphere I feel when I walk around the city. So yeah, I like it a lot. They play hard,” Durant added. “They love their coach, they love their system, and especially in this building they play with a lot of energy.”

A man can still dream, can't he?

I like the Al Horford signing and I'll continue dreaming about Durant until he says otherwise. At least he gave the Celtics an audience. *crosses fingers*

Isaiah Thomas was attempting to become the first Celtic to ever score 40+ in 3 consecutive games - pretty impressive given their history. Unfortunately, he "only" scored 38 points in a win against the Lakers.

There was some history made, though: the Celtics' 3,253rd regular season win gives them the most in NBA history. Who did they pass? The Lakers, of course.

no playoffs, to 8 seed, to 4 seed, to 1 seed. Stevens is turning out to be a great hire.

Now it's time to actually advance in the playoffs. I'm under no delusions. I know the best team in the East is still in Cleveland, but that doesn't take away from what the Celtics have done to become competitive again. I just hope to get a shot at the Cavs in the Eastern finals. That's a lie, I'd rather play a team who upset the Cavs, but the point is Boston getting there would fully validate the improvement. Anything beyond that would be gravy.
