If they were willing to live with the character flaws that Petrino had already demonstrated before he was hired, it seems peculiar to shove him out the door over this minor transgression (not minor from a marital perspective nor a moral one, but in an employment sense).

He put his mistress on the university payroll. That isn't a minor transgression.

So where does Petrino end up? He's still a pretty good coach.

Todd Graham puts in his requisite year at Arizona State, then takes over at Arkansas. After that, Petrino takes the job at ASU and gets paid entirely in lulz and poontang.
