Boardwalk Empire (TV Show)

I think it's been fantastic so far. I'm loving the new Sunday night lineup with Boardwalk Empire, Bored To Death (which I love), and East Bound & Down. I'm glad to get rid of Hung, which I thought was pretty mediocre. The best part was getting to hear the Black Keys during the opening.

I actually saw an episode of the East bound & Down. That is a crazy show, I might start watching it.

I liked it a lot. One thing that I really respected (and I won't spoil it by giving a name) is the way the writers really humanized one of the characters--almost made him sympathetic--before his demise. Kind of courageous writing to fuck with their audiences like that.

It's kind of the opposite of how Chase would always have a character do something particularly heinous fairly close before he was killed so that you had lost any sympathy for him. It was kind of an easy out in that he removed any conflicting emotion one might feel for the whacked.

This season is reaching new heights. Best show on TV?

Totally agree that it's been an awesome season. It's right up there with Homeland for me, but I can't say for sure it's the best show on TV right now, as I haven't seen a few of the shows people regard for that distinction. I really like how this season has stretched more from a focus on Atlantic City to a national horizon.

I'm also a huge fan of Treme, so Sunday nights on HBO are pretty much a homerun in my book right now. Not looking forward to shows like Enlightened and Girls coming back.

Who, the teenager? I'm glad he ate a bullet, for his smarminess as much as his past misdeeds. How Sleater managed to misread the situation was mystifying as well.

Sure is setting up for an epic season finale. Looks like the bodies are about to roll next Sunday. In the good words of Bart Scott...

Shit's about to get real in the whore house parking lot.

And it would seem as though Capone has finally lost that New York accent and learned some proper Chicagoese.

Judging by his timing with the comment, I'm guessing he meant the butcher from Philly (his name escapes me right now). He had always been portrayed as kind of a giant psycho, but then they showed him having a nice moment with his wife, where he actually looked human. Then.......
