Bill O’Brien (HC Boston College, aka BillyBob O’Buttchin et al)

I don’t know what happened last year (70th offense) but ‘21 and ‘22 were top 10-15.

If there’s one thing Chip can do it’s put a high-powered college offense together.

That would be an unreal upgrade, even over BOB. There’s no way.
Well that's because BOB was a name hire that we think Day would be comfortable in turning over play-calling too. It wasn't super-imaginative as a hire though.

Kelly is a different animal in that regard.

Wouldn’t fault BoB if he left. I left flying in the Air Force ( my career, my passion) for my 1 & 6 year old. Was gone every other week for unpredictable amounts of time flying the Vice President and Combatant Commanders. I would be damned if I’m going to miss them constantly deploying and TDY, and they are healthy. So from my life perspective, I want him to go for his ease of mind and the health of the program. Can’t really do your job 100% effectively when your mind is elsewhere.

Right, I think O’Brien keeps the car on the road. He knows how to coach and call a good/great offense. The talent plus his knowledge would put up points. Very trustworthy for Day.

Chip Kelly attaches the NOS and puts the car in the fast lane. It’s Day’s mentor so you know there’s trust and I imagine even more creative freedom. I’d be ecstatic.

So not to be insensitive...but BoB didn't know about this situation when he took the job?
BOB intended for this to be a 1 year position anyways....wanted to be a HC again. There's no way he could've foreseen Hafley leaving the BC job vacant....all that went down after he had accepted OSU OC position....and I said it in a different thread, but when a BC job becomes open, alwyas look at OSU's coaching staff and figure someone is a likely target. BC athletic department loves hiring from OSU athletics.
